In my professional life I use many concepts and tools taken from the world of psychology and management. In these areas I came across many people that want to know more and this book is a great first port of call.

Many psychology books require the reader to already understand the subject matter and as the area is so large and diverse this can be quite a problem. Those that are new to the subject or are only familiar with a small discipline within the large subject will find this book a useful starting point to guide them to more specific areas of interest.

This book will not teach you psychology, but it will help you understand more about the many different areas of the subject. Nicky Hayes does a great job of talking in plain English to give the reader enough of a taster of the different disciplines. Each chapter of the book is one area of psychology and is only about 10 pages (I told you it wouldn't teach you psychology). It's easy to pick up and dip in and out.

I use this to give to those that express an interest in 'psychology' but don't really know what it means or which specific area of psychology. It's a great starting point.
