I bought this book for my upcoming class in Dreamweaver MX. (I'm the instructor.)
I think it does exactly what I want it to do, teaching people Macromedia Dreamweaver MX in 24 hours - or lessons.
The concept of Teach yourself in 24 hours is very good for my purpose. My students get a book for continuing their work after my class, and the book is full of explanations that make it possible for them to go on without an instructor.
I also like the 24-hours-books for my own sake, I think I learn something each time I prepare a class.
This book doesn't mention how to connect to databases and so on, as it explains in the introduction: it's outside the scope of this book.
Connecting to databases IS a bit advanced. You need to know a bit about databases, servers, and you need to choose a language, like vb-script (for active server pages), javascript, php, what-ever-Cold Fusion-uses.
I bet there'll be a 24-hours book on the database/dynamic pages coming rather soon, now that Ultra Dev's included in Dreamweaver.
I think the book is a good choice.

Nearly perfect? 20 Oct 2003
By PK
Format:Paperback
I had already designed a site using Frontpage, and once live I found it a nightmare to maintain, update, and change to what I wanted. I was persuaded to buy Macromedia MX and so did. After buying this book, I found it extremely useful in having to re-create most of my original site. The tutorials are excellent and informative for the type of sites I am designing. On a bad note, I found the chapters around feedback etc were not very informative at all. It mentions the various script writing formats but doesn't tell you how to use them at a beginners level. For a beginner it is excellent, for the next level I would look elsewhere.

Beware 12 Aug 2002

Format:Paperback
For absolute beginners to Dreamweaver MX, this book is ideal - the 24 different lessons will have you knocking out kick-ass websites in no time. However, if you want to take advantage of some of the new features in this version, such as database connectivity, that were pulled in from Dreamweaver Ultradev - LOOK ELSEWHERE! There is no mention of this in the book, not even a passing glance at a database, ASP, VBScript, ColdFusion and all the other toys...
