An easy to follow book for any prospective and new traditional and rare breed keepers out there.

Details of the economics, the available breeds, problems you may encounter and just about anything you want to know about keeping pigs traditionally.

Keeping Pigs 7 Feb 2009
I bought this book when I was thinking about keeping pigs. It is very informative and gives all the information you need. It tells you what to expect both in terms of paperwork (of which there is a fair amount) labour and costs. I bought two pigs and this book helped me through from 8 weeks to 6 months. They tasted fantastic!! I have now bought another five piglets (2 gilts and 3 boars) and intend to keep the gilts for breeding. I would definitely recommend the book and keeping pigs. They go together.

Good for the basics 5 Oct 2009

A good book with some great info, doesn't quite go into as much detail as Traditional Pig Keeping by Carol Harris but does give a different angle on some aspects which is useful.

A decent basic read and written in a very down to earth way - worth a read BEFORE you try and jump in at the deep end.
