Product Description

Teach Yourself Christianity Fourth Edition is a comprehensive guide to the Christian faith. You will begin by focusing on the central figure, Jesus Christ, and delving into his life, teaching and impact before turning to the Bible and the key Christian beliefs and practices. John Young will then guide you skilfully through the last 2000 years of the faith, considering the diversity of the many churches and modern movements, from Anglicanism and Catholicism to evangelism and fundamentalism.

How relevant can the Bible be today? What is the role of prayer? How has the church reacted to issues of gender and sexuality? How does Christianity deal with suffering? Fully updated to include discussion of the most recent issues and debates and never shying away from difficult questions, Teach Yourself Christianity is a fascinating read.

Each title in the religion sub-series of Teach Yourself aims to present all the essential information required by a reader who has little or no previous knowledge of the religion. Perhaps you are a student studying the religion in question? Perhaps your job brings you into contact with members of a particular faith community and you want to feel confident that you are treating them with sensitivity and respect? Perhaps you have a serious spiritual interest in the religion yourself? Whether you have a particular goal in mind or are simply interested in learning more about any one of the fascinating religions covered by this series, you are certain to find these books useful and informative.

I purchased this book wanting to find out more about Christianity, and after reading it i certainly did! It contains everything you need to know, and is very easy to read. It is set out in an interesting style, and can be read any way, you do not have to read how it is set out, as it can be read whichever way you prefer.
It is certainly a must for those who are beginners, or those who just want to brush up on their religion.
It is an entertaining read, and contains historical sections, case studies, as well as all the imformation required to understand, and inform you of the Christian faith.
Definately recommended!

If you have a Christian upbringing it is all too easy to think you know things about Christianity. This book presents the basics, points about faith, doctrine, dogma and very clear descriptions of denominations. Very useful for 'ordering' an understanding of Christianity.
