As the Alexander Technique requires the hands-on contact from a qualified teacher the premise of "teaching yourself" from a book is utterly mistaken. Books can serve as an introduction to the concepts of the Technique, but can never replace the necessity for a teacher. Craze's book is unfortunately not even a good introduction, written by a serial book churner with seemingly no real knowledge of the Technique. Of course everyone wants a quick fix and people get very frustrated and often angry when told they can't learn the Alexander Technique from a book, from the internet or by correspondence course, but this symptom of modern living - the desire for the end result NOW without thought for the process is one of the fundamental problems the Technique seeks to help you overcome! Do yourself a favour - ignore this poor-quality book and go and find a teacher. If you want a good book on the Technique there are some out there.
