4.0 out of 5 stars Well Written, 16 May 2005
By A Customer
This book is basically a collection of short stories woven into each other with a common thread (refer to title). Some storylines are better etched out than others, particularly Daniel/Penny and Sadie Sponge. The Clare/Peter storyline begins intriguingly but filters out in the end.

The writer displays an uncanny insight into the characters she potrays, apart from Brenda who I just couldn't relate to.

Overall, a very well written book which encourages you to reflect upon your own life with a view to self-improvement. Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Belfast and Tea rooms, 27 Feb 2005
Despit being based in Belfast this book refreshingly contained little reference to the various Troubles, consentrating instead on the story line.

This book revolves around the owners of the Tea Shop on Mulberry Street and their customers.

Meet Brenda, struggling artist, Daniel, secretive and frugal. Penny, the long suffering wife, Sadie the Sponge and many other colourful characters.

The overwhelming feeling from this book is that life can and will get better, just give it a chance. We watch these people stuggle through life, never wanting much more then a bit of happiness, almost a collection of short stories it could be based anywhere in the world as the characters face the same issues as we do.

5.0 out of 5 stars A brilliant read, 24 Mar 2005
I've never bothered to write a review on a book before, but having just finished The Tea House on Mulberry Street I thought I would! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and it's one of those books you don't want to finish because you're so into the characters and their different stories. My only criticism would be that I would have liked to hear more about Clare and Peter's story, but I guess that's just my individual opinion! Overall a very good book which I have already lent to a friend!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great comfortable reading
I really liked this, not too chic-lit and not too heavy, it is cleverly written, easy to read and enjoyable, you really feel as if you are getting to know the characters.

4.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly filling
I got this book for a birthday and was a bit dubious at first, as the pastel cover seemed to indicate chick-lit. However, I was wrong, and I'm glad. Read more
