Sibelius too rough 30 May 2012
By Sienna S'Zell - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD Verified Purchase
As a violinist I was looking forward to this recording. I've heard his Lalo, which is spectacular. The Tchaikovsky on this recording is gorgeous; lush, rich, full, just the right tempo. However, the Sibelius, my favorite violin concerto, is played too roughly. It's a sensuous, flowing work with constant energy, but Vergerov is so rough and scratchy in the last movement I had to turn it off. Definitely buy it for the Tchaikovsky, but not the Sibelius.
