Having played some of Tchaikovsky's wonderful string chamber music I am distressed to see how it is so often overlooked when compared to his other, more famous works. Without diminishing the magnitude and power of Swan Lake and the Nutcracker Suite I say with convictionthat it has always, for me been his string works that so to speak "turn me on".I have especially developed a close intimacy with Tchaikovsky's Souvenir de florence and hail it as being one of the best string recordings in my collection! If you havn't got this- buy it- if you do get it out and listen to it!!
