Gary Graffman was only a name to me before buying this to sample his work. His reputation is well-earned, in these fresh and clear, but fully alive performances. With the heart and technique on display here it is easy to imagine that Graffman would be a fine teacher, as he still is. Sound is of the house and period, which means generally good. Orchestras and conductors too are clearly world class. Add in top-notch performances of the violin concerto and Rococo Variations for cello and orchestra, by similarly classy teams and you have a really good investment.
