I was very excited when ordering this book. I had read the blurb and wanted to begin the journey to becoming self employed with an informed start.
I found the aims of the book excellent. The cover and title reassuring. However I can honestly say that in my opinion this is more of a pamphlet than a book. There are 100 pages. 17 of which are for making notes, so other than a title, they are blank. You don't need an accountant to tell you that that is not good value for money.
As I started reading I noticed many new terms and concepts were introduced with little explanation (there is no glossary of terms) or examples, as a result I was left feeling more uncertain rather than less. I can honestly say I learnt more from attending a recent *free* HMRC course.
If in doubt about buying this book, I would also recommend checking out the publisher (Filament Publishing).
I recently bought this book
Teach Yourself Understanding Tax for Small Businesses (TY Computing) (which is the same price), which I am hoping serves me better!
