Fans of The Bronze Horseman Trilogy will "eat up" this book. Full of delicious and somewhat easily prepared recipes of the foods cooked by Tatiana throughout her life and marriage, the very best, and most anticipated, parts are the stories that precede each recipe. Each recipe follows a Tatiana or Alexander vignette, like their time in Leningrad with her family, or Tatiana's life in NY. There are new stories of Tatiana & Alexander when they lived in Coconut Grove and Phoenix; stories involving their children, especially Anthony and his relationship with Vikki. It has a wonderful and heart-melting ending that precedes the recipe for strawberry ice cream. This is a must have for fans of these books...and for cooks everywhere!

The Finale 25 Feb 2012

Anyone who has read The Bronze Horseman trilogy will want to get this book. Not just to recreate many of the foods Tatiana cooked for Alexander, but also for the little insight you get with each and every recipe. There is a scene from their life with each and every recipe, and makes for cooking them alot more interesting and from the heart. To taste the food that they ate brings The Bronze Horseman trilogy to life. I am working my way through all the recipes, and some of them are wonderful, and some (the bread in particular) are not. None the less any fan of Tatiana and Alexander will want to get this book, as there are stories about them that are not in the trilogy, its just unfortunate that this book is so hard to get hold of, I am so very glad I have got one, and it goes with me everywhere, and I cook from it every day, giving me a little bit of Tatiana and Alexander through my cooking. I have reviewed many of the recipes on my blog - http://tatianastable.blogspot.com/

Nice book about russian cooking. It looks like it was Agua Para Chocolate book with mexican cookings too. Some recipies doesn't look authentic from Paullina's grandmother, as it includes products not availible in that period. I surprise to see dry yest, when people were using just fresh ones (I do not remember to have dry yest in shopes at all) or pelmenies without salt, when it was conserving in cold for many months and salt is important conservative and so on. Anyway somebody may be just interested in russian cooking and try some recepy. I was expecting more from cook book and much more from novel.
