I generally do not take the time to actually write a review, but in this case I felt compelled. The writing in the book itself was good, but the interaction between the hero and heroine as well as their character development was atrocious! Thomas was, in a word MEAN. Arrogant and mean, and besting our heroine at every turn. I would have loved to see Amelia 'win' a few of their skirmishes, but that was not the case. Thomas takes her virginity and then acts as though it were no big deal - in Victorian England, when she's the daughter of a not only a peer but a close friend his. What. A. Jerk. In the final scenes, Amelia came across (to me at least) as just plain pathetic, begging for Thomas' love. Which he witholds with cruel words until the very end. I don't recommend this book.
