It's really hard to find authentic Cypriot cook books, but this one is the best one I've found. The author makes all the recipes seem very straightforward and the cultural and historical information which is included is really interesting to read. This book makes up for the all the recipes I should have learnt by myself!

What a fantastic collection of mouthwatering recipes. Gilli uses seasonal local ingredients for very regional and stylised cypriot dishes. The narrative is invaluable - without the history, a flaouna would be a cheese bun!

this is a basic book you need to have if you live in Cyprus as it includes recipes you should know how to do. But the style is very old fashioned, and the photos dated. It reflects life as it used to be in Cyprus but sadly no more. The recipes lack the excitement of our food today and are generally very boring.

After my grandmother died I thought all of her amazing recipes from Cyprus would be lost but thankfully I found this book. All the recipes I have tried have turned out perfectly and tasted just as I remembered them. I especially love the recipe for Dolmades (stuffed Vine leaves), they are really delicious. Cypriot cuisine is not very well known but is utterly wonderful and deserves a place alongside all the other great world cuisines. This book is simple in design and there are not many pictures but the results speak for themselves.
