Product Description

Synopsis

Against a charming backdrop of personal memories and cultural snippets, Melbourne-born Richard Bradfield takes us beyond the cliches of shrimp-laden barbecues toward a fresh understanding of how Australians eat. Brought to life with stunning photography by Simon Griffiths, one of Australia's leading food photographers, "Taste Australia" serves up Australia's unique take on fusion food for the delectation of the global village. Recipes include scrumptious breakfast ideas such as a fry-up on authentic Outback Damper Bread, Atlantic Salmon on Sweet Onion Rice Congee, and Apple and Nutmeg Rosti. Australia's ethnic diversity is celebrated with a fresh take on old favourites such as Lamb Kefta with Tzatziki and Raisin Couscous while paying homage to Australia's eternal love affair with seafood: try the Chilled Crayfish on Pea Salad or the Pan-Fried Salmon on Tahitian Salad. "Taste Australia" also includes home-grown treats such as "Lamingtons" and the ever popular ANZAC biscuit. Richard Bradfield's "Taste Australia" will make a wonderful contribution to any kitchen, to be enjoyed by lovers of food and Australia alike.

I bought this book as a gift for my parents who spent a couple of months travelling around Australia earlier this year. They absolutely loved the food over there, and they adored this gem of a cook book, which they use all the time. The recipes are really fresh and exciting, mixing in loads of different cuisines from around the world, which is what sets the book apart. The recipes are all really easy to follow, and the pictures are fab - really lovely photography, and some interesting little snippets by the chef Richard Bradfield. I would definitely recommend this as a great gift book, especially for those who have spent some time in Oz.

This book has a refreshing approach compared to your average cookbook. A light-hearted, typically Australian banter. The style and recipes are unusual and they dont consist of ingredients that are difficult to find!

I certainly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys cooking and enjoys turning an ordinary meal into something special with unusual combinations of tastes.

The book is well laid out and easy use. The pictures are mouth watering!!

I love this book!

I received Richard Bradfield’s “Taste Australia” as a gift from my boyfriend, and we have savoured every recipe cooked thus far. “Taste Australia” provides a delicious insight into the modern Aussie cuisine, which I must admit is tantalisingly varied – the range of dishes is incredible. The book includes a number of old favourites, but in particular it’s the unique Aussie recipes which I have really enjoyed cooking. We also love Thai and other Asian cuisines, so dishes like the rice congee and the Australasian beef salad have been a big hit in our house. The pictures are superb and the recipes easy to follow (even my boyfriend managed to whip up a couple for me!) There are a few special ingredients used throughout, but suggested alternatives are given, which is really useful.

“Taste Australia” is a brilliant book by this new Aussie chef, and one that I would highly recommend; the mix of traditional favourites with a twist and fresh, contemporary dishes really makes this book special. Enjoy.
