A Taste of Pleasure, 4 July 2005
This review is from: A Taste of Amber (Nexus Classic) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is one of Penny Birch's earliest books, and stands up very well. It introduces one of her main characters, Amber Oakley, in wonderful detail, but without taking a third of the book to do so. Amber is blond, beautiful, intelligent and strong-willed. Early on, she discovers her lesbianism, but soon after, also discovers her attraction to both pony-carting and submissive behaviour. Her nemesis, Morris Rathwell, is also introduced in this book in one of Penny's classic scenes. Amber is one of Penny's most appealing heroines, I feel, and this book is one of her best. There's lots of pony-carting, lesbian domination, humiliations, rude and nasty males, and a wonderful finale, so no matter your taste, it will probably be addressed in this book. If you have never tried a Penny Birch book, this is a wonderful one to start with. You'll be hooked, believe me.

long awaited, 22 Aug 2011
My husband had read this book over 10yrs ago, before we were together and had wanted me to read it too.
Unfortuntately he lent it to a friend and never got it returned - so we'd been looking for it for a good few years. Am very pleased I found it - and can confirm the book was every bit as good as my husband had said it was :-)

I loved a taste of Amber, 11 April 1999
By A Customer
Review of 'A Taste of Amber' by Penny Birch Also the author of Penny in Harness
I loved a taste of Amber. One girls odyssey into the world of sex and submission. With lots of spanking, pony girls and good dirty fun. Not only was it a huge turn on to read but also was a really good story with believable characters and a plot that keeps you on the edge of your seat. I would describe this book an erotic story that could almost be true. I almost felt I was reading someone's diary. I just wish it had been mine. Lucy Bailey
