Review

Tarzan: The Greystoke Legacy is in my opinion nothing short of brilliant, a genuine single-sitter book that you just will not want to put down … Right from the very first chapter the action scenes are superbly written, and the fight scenes will leave you breathless, whether they be man vs beast or man vs man … Add to all this the tight plotting, the ecological theme of the plot, and a hero that will have boys desperate to run off to the jungle, don a faded pair of shorts, and climb high up into a huge tree to emit a 'victory bellow radiating power and dominance of all living things', and I believe that this will fast become one of this summer's most talked about books. I will certainly be recommending it to anyone and everyone who will listen. --Bookzone4boys

Tarzan: The Greystoke Legacy captures brilliantly the dark, gritty spirit of the Edgar Rice Burroughs stories and is a real whirlwind of an action/adventure yarn … a thrilling and captivating book that drags the reader on a heart-pumping journey through the jungle of the Congo as Robbie and Jane investigate the myth of the white ape and try to save their friends from the various dangers that lurk in the darkness. --Bookbitz

I fell in love with Edgar Rice Burrough's Tarzan when I was 11 years old, and was jealous when he married that silly Jane. I would have been even more jealous of the Jane in Tarzan: The Greystoke Legacy she is not silly at all! And what a stroke of brilliance to transform Tarzan into an eco-warrior. The Lord of the Jungle is with us still. --Jane Goodall Ph.D., DBE

A classic with a 21st century twist, this riveting adventure overflows with suspense, danger, brutality and beauty. An action-packed thriller from the opening line, it leaves the reader wanting more. --Booktrust

From the first page of the new Tarzan adventure Andy immerses us in the sweaty, insect ridden jungle of the Congo where danger and death lie hidden behind every tree - the perfect world for a new version of Tarzan. Andy gives us tantalising insights into characters' pasts, feeding us information at crucial points throughout the book, leaving us wanting more, forcing us to read on way past our bedtime. The action will keep you hooked and is never bogged down in too much detail, flowing fast enough to keep you turning page after page.

Forget superheroes like Batman, Spider-man, Iron Man and others, Tarzan is the epitome of the word, risking his life and body, jumping through trees to save those creatures, and people, he cares for, battling hungry lions and brutal male silver-back gorillas, all with his bare hands. This is tempered with an endearing hint of loneliness, hidden deep within this jungle brute.

Even when you finish the novel you'll be hungry for more, wishing the second novel was already available to buy... how long will we have to wait, Andy? The second novel can't come soon enough!!!

I have always had a love for Tarzan stories and when I heard Andy Briggs was rebooting the classic story, I couldn't wait to sit myself down on the couch and get reading. To my astonishment, it was even better than I expected! It was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!
Andy Briggs has created a Tarzan very much in line with the original, focusing on the savagery of living in the jungle, without really making it overly dramatic or unbelievable. It is full of adventure that young and mature readers will love! 5*!!!
