You could buy this for the extraordinarily beautiful and moving last movement of the A Major D96. alone, but that would be to miss the many other wonderful delights on offer. Essential listening for all lovers of music, and of the Italian baroque especially. Piero Toso and I Solisti Veneti are outstanding here, as ever.

Format: Audio CD
The back cover of this CD reports from a Gramophone review: "Toso plays impeccably, tempering tone and vibrato in extracting every drop of the essential character of each movement ... a superb recording!"

Indeed, Piero Toso finds the best way to pay homage to "il Maestro delle Nazioni": context-sensitive virtuosismo, thoughtful interpretation, natural musicianship are here masterfully merged in sublime performances.

The five concertos here selected come from different compositional periods, therefore well representing the huge mass of Tartini's concertos for violin (more than 130): all the five are true gems.

Claudio Scimone and "his" Solisti Veneti are wonderful as usual. The understanding with Toso is obviously perfect, resulting in a quite unmatchable performance.

The 1970 stereo-ADD "studio" (Villa Trieste, Vaccarino, Italy) recording is excellent and optimally balanced. The CD is adequately filled up: 67'55".

The thin booklet contains a French article by Adélaļde de Place, translated also in English and German.
