5.0 out of 5 stars Tarot Tour Guide - a magickal journey 15 July 2012
By Amazon Customer - Published on
Review: Tarot Tour Guide: Tarot, The Four Elements, and Your Spiritual Journey, by Christiana Gaudet

Grab your tarot deck and meet tour guide, Grand Tarot Master, Christiana Gaudet. You are about to embark on a magickal journey. Christiana's book, Tarot Tour Guide, launches this week. Along your journey, you will be introduced to the local townspeople (the major arcana), as well as the reigning town officials (the court cards). You will encounter trials and tribulations along the way (the minor arcana), and will learn how to grow from each encounter. There will be many ports of call in the form of exercises to further the learning experience of the culture of the land of Tarot. These ports of call are in two stages--for first time travelers, and for those more familiar with the land.

The introduction to the tour gives a detailed list of what is found in each chapter. This may seem a bit lengthy, but it allows the reader to immediately focus on any particular chapter. If you are new, it would benefit you to study the entire book from cover to cover. If you are experienced, you may skip around the journey at your leisure, choosing chapters that you may want to visit in no particular order, as needed.

As with most tours, this one begins with an explanation of the journey ahead. The next stop on the tour will introduce you to the key players along the route--descriptions of the major arcana cards.

The next phase is an introduction to the people and problems you may encounter along the path to Tarot.

An introduction to the town officials (the court cards), follows. As with the previous chapters, there are exercises to give you deeper insight into the journey and the archetypes of tarot.

Next stop, you will learn how this journey relates to your own readings. Mind, body, and spirit readings and importance of these attributes, as well as reversals, and different styles of readings are explained.

An added bonus of the trip are several landmarks you will visit--better known as tarot spreads. Some of the most popular are shown and explained, and you will also learn how to design your own personalized spread.

Of course, as with any journey, you must be aware of how the weather (elements) can affect your trip. You will learn how to see the spiritual nature of the elements of fire, air, water, and earth. Sample readings and exercises abound to aid you in your use and knowledge of the importance of these elements in a reading.

At the conclusion of your journey, Christiana advises you to allow your journey with tarot to unfold naturally. "Use tarot in the way that you enjoy it. Let it be a tour guide on your life's journey, as it brings you knowledge, fellowship, creativity, and a sense of connection to spirit."

Take the tour, enjoy the trip--you have everything to gain on your journey through life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book for Tarot Readers of All Skill Levels 28 Sept. 2012
By Barbara Graver - Published on
Christiana Gaudet's new book "Tarot Tour Guide: Tarot, the Four Elements and Your Spiritual Journey" is a great resource for both new and experienced tarot readers.

As a professional tarot reader with over twenty years experience, Christiana possesses both a wide knowledge base and an intimate understanding of tarot. In "Tarot Tour Guide" she freely shares her knowledge of both interpretive and intuitive tarot.

I found her explanation of spiritual and elemental tarot clear and understandable and her interpretations of the cards memorable. I loved that she encourages the reader to add to these interpretations by building a personal relationship with the cards.

Throughout the book thought provoking exercises, meditations and journaling help us to do just that. By completing the exercise, the reader can define what the cards mean to them. This personal symbolism is a valuable resource.

Additionally, "Tarot Tour Guide" gives comprehensive information on tarot magick and working with the elements on several different levels. Individual sections on tarot related dreamwork, psychic development and the use of tarot to connect with spirit are provided as well.

Christiana places great emphasis on the use of tarot as a spiritual tool and to that end, she includes a wonderful and original spread (one of many throughout the book), "Mapping the Spiritual Path," which gave me great (and somewhat surprising) results.

I would recommend this book to anyone regardless of their level of experience with tarot!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome elemental approach to the tarot! 26 April 2013

Tarot Tour Guide: Tarot, the Four Elements, and Your Spiritual Journey
Christiana Gaudet
Jupiter Gardens Press

In April 1989, I stood outside one of the world's greatest art museums, the Louvre, with only an inkling of what I would find inside. I knew about the Mona Lisa, "Winged Victory", and a few other gems, but otherwise, I had no idea of the depth and breadth of the collections that stood all around me. It was definitely overwhelming.

Working with the tarot can seem overwhelming, too: There are tons of books and other resources vying for the time and attention of the beginning tarot reader. Luckily for those interested in learning the tarot, Christiana Gaudet created something that I should have had at the Louvre: A tour guide!

Tarot Tour Guide is a remarkably complete work that surprised me with its breadth and simplicity. Everything you'd expect from a tarot book is here: Card meanings, example spreads, suggestions for tools and various techniques, and meditations. The author's tone is conversational and not pretentious, making the reader comfortable. It also doesn't make judgments about how you should or should not use the cards; in other words, Gaudet presents the options without pushing one way or the other.

What I didn't expect was the elemental focus of the book--five entire chapters dedicated to this vital topic. To me, the four elements of fire, earth, air, and water are an essential part of not only tarot, but of spiritual practice. Gaudet includes a full chapter on each of the elements and asks the student to work with each one through exercises and meditations. Most books are content with a cursory "here are the four elements" portion, but the author really went over and above to ensure that the reader understood each element. I'd love to see an individual book on each of the elements in the tarot from this author someday.

I really liked the additional information included in each of the elemental chapters. In Chapter 8, for example, "The Element of Air", Gaudet discusses the element and the mental body, but includes related topics, like reading for other people, tarot ethics, and what to do if you feel that someone is lying during a tarot reading. The other elemental chapters follow a similar pattern, with earth focusing on work and the physical body; fire focusing on the spiritual body, creativity, and sexuality; and water presenting the emotional body, as well as love and relationship readings. The fact that these topics were organized by element really stood out for me, and for that reason they resonated with me even more.

One final point: The readings that Gaudet includes in the book really help understand not only the elements, but the role of the tarot reader. The reading "Single Again" from Chapter 10, "The Element of Water" really hit home for me as a professional reader, because these are the types of problems our clients face every day. It's about a man going through a divorce. While you should go buy this book and read it for yourself, I'll say this much: The author does a great job of showing how to react compassionately but honestly when a client doesn't want to see the truth of a particular situation. It's a regular occurrence in my own practice as well.

Whether you are an aspiring tarot professional or just want to develop your intuitive abilities, I'd recommend this book. It's also great for beginners, especially those who may be interested in using tarot as a larger part of their spiritual development or are drawn to a Pagan/Wiccan spiritual path.

5.0 out of 5 stars . If you purchase any reference book to deepen your tarot practice, this is the one to get! 31 Dec. 2012
By Linda Moore - Published on
As a student of tarot I look for books that will help deepen my learning of this creative form of expression. I find tarot to be a tool for tuning in to deeper paths of self discovery. When the path opens for me, I also share what I know with the curious or inquisitive seekers of the same. I think tarot takes the guess work out of nagging intuitive thoughts and literally, lays the cards on the table, directing you to the answers you are seeking on your life's journey.

"Tarot Tour Guide: Tarot, The Four Elements and Your Spiritual Journey" by Christiana Guadet is no ordinary tarot teaching guide. This book, by Gaudet, who is a certified Tarot Grandmaster, takes the student deeper than the card meanings. There are terrific books which deal at great length on card interpretations, however, Gaudet chooses not to use her creative talents and her student readers time in that arena. There are interpretations for all 78 of the tarot cards. Don't buy this book if that is all you are looking for. Instead buy "Tarot Tour Guide" because you want to deepen your discovery of tarot in directions other authors may not have taken you. Gaudet's tour is one of hands on practice through meditation and guided exercises relating to the subjects covered in each chapter.

Gaudet guides us to use the cards almost as if they were alive, an entity all their own speaking to us on a personal level. She does this by encouraging us throughout the book, to not only question the cards that we turn from the top, but to actually choose a card that speaks to us or answers our problems. And that is where the journey into learning the tarot goes deeper. In essence, she teaches that having a "conversation" with the cards opens your tarot journey and directs you further on the path of spiritual and self discovery.

As other tarot authors have done, Gaudet gives her students familiar spreads to practice. Yet she takes it a step further and provides newer, challenging spreads of her own creation, such as the Future Vision Spread and Mapping the Spiritual Path Spread, which she describes in detail.

At the heart and soul of this guide is the Four Elements Journey. Gaudet takes us further than the basic understanding that each suit or major arcana card represents the elements of fire, water, air, and earth. She delves much deeper into the subject in separate chapters. And again, each chapter has a meditation exercise, an invocation and related stories with examples of readings and outcomes, as well as illustrative and provocative poetry. This book not only gets you thinking, but it gets you moving by asking you to create a special place in your home for your tarot tools, as well as other activities.

"Tarot Tour Guide: Tarot, The Four Elements and Your Spiritual Journey" by Tarot Grandmaster Christiana Guadet will open the beginner or advanced tarot student to a journey beyond the basics of cards and spreads. If you purchase any reference book to deepen your practice, this is the one to get. In just 202 pages, you will find a most rewarding personal and spiritual journey of self discovery through tarot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Book! Highly Recommended! 30 Dec. 2013
By Nick Leblanc - Published on
I came upon Christiana Gaudet's books when I stumbled upon her YouTube Channel: [...] After watching many of her videos, I really enjoyed the knowledge she took the time to share and I decided to order both her books. I was also pleasantly surprised when Christiana took the time to make a video response to one of my questions on her YouTube Channel.

I have been using Tarot for 14 years and I can honestly say Christiana was able to speak about areas that are not often discussed in other tarot books. For this reason, I would highly recommend both this book along with "Fortune Stellar".

Looking forward to more!
