Product Description

From the Back Cover

This book has established itself as a modern classic on the interpretation of the Tarot. It contains three linked sections to enable students to work with and understand the Tarot cards and their relationship with astrology, numerology and the Cabala. Including:
• Basic lessons, exercises, procedures and meditations relating to the major and minor arcana
• Guides to the positive and negative interpretations of the symbols on each card
• Procedures and spreads for using the cards in divination

Eileen Connolly stresses the importance of becoming directly involved with the symbolism of the Tarot, rather than just learning the meanings by rote. This handbook will be an excellent guide and point of reference as you progress swiftly and safely towards a deep knowledge of the subject.

3.0 out of 5 stars Gives good definitions of card meanings 28 Mar 2001
By A Customer
This book can really help a beginner to learn the meanings behind each tarot and even provides little rhymes to help you remember them. In fact most of the book is dedicated to this and there is a picture of each card (from the Raider-Whaite pack) with them and this is what i like about the book. But what i really don't like about the book is the way the author teaches the reader to look upon the cards themselves as some sort of special object, laying out guidelines for their use including keeping them in a special box and not letting others use/play with them which i feel completely unnecessary as the cards themselves are inanemate and serve only as intuitive/psychic vehicle for the reader.

4.0 out of 5 stars Watch it! Same as the 1979 edition 3 Jun 2010
By Peter - Published on Amazon.com
The full title of this book is "Tarot: The Complete Handbook for the Apprentice" and was published by Harper Collins in 1995 (ISBN: 978-0722-532218).

Be careful! This book is IDENTICAL word for word and number of pages to her "Tarot: A New Handbook for the Apprentice" book published by Newcastle in 1979 (ISBN: 0-87877-045-3).

I wouldn't be surprised if ALL publications of the "Tarot: A New Handbook for the Apprentice" book were identical.

The 1995 book is about 1 inch shorter and 1 inch narrower than the 1979 publication, and hence the font size is correspondingly smaller too (but still not too small). However, with its larger font plus a better black ink consistency on EVERY page, the 1979 version is much easier on the eyes than the 1995 edition. The original is a nice book and is recommended as a beginner's Tarot learning book.

very much like the way author teaches, it's different, and much more comprehensive, and spirtual, than other methods, and memorizing.
