When I ordered this book, I wasn't sure when I'd find time to read it as I've got plenty of work on and a huge pile of books queuing up to be read! However, I have been blessed with a bout of the lurgy, bad enough to make me feel disinclined to work, but not so bad as to make feel horribly uncomfortable. Perfect for sitting around and reading! After hearing Rachel speak at the London Tarot Conference, I knew I had to read this book. She is a naturally gifted storyteller, fuelled by many years of experience and wisely learned lessons.

The series of short stories contained within these pages take you on a journey of the soul, painting vivid images which though often surreal and dreamlike seem very real. We seem to be looking at a mirror of the world around us which shows us the truth that lies beneath. Rachel's writing is profound yet humorous, deeply philosophical yet easy to digest. Yummy even. :)

I've been completely hooked from beginning to end, moved to both laughter and tears. Though I am a Tarot obsessive, I don't think you need to be neccessarily to enjoy these stories- though an inquiring nature and an open mind would certainly help! For those who like me are deeply in love with the mysteries of Tarot, 'The Tarot of Perfection' is a rare and wonderful treat. Thank you Rachel! And thank you Magic realist Press for bringing it to us!

"...these stories will open new ways of seeing and meditating on the cards "

These short stories are truly wonderful! They touch your mind and bestow it with a gift of vision, that allows you to see the Tarot alive and dancing and with so many new stories to tell you. If the Tarot seems flat and lifeless, these stories will bring it to life and allow you to see it in a wonderful new light.

Rachel has written these stories using the Tarot as inspiration for its highly imaginative characters, situations, twists and turns and intertwines them with deep wisdom and inspiring clarity.

Rachel also provides tips and a Tarot spread, to help you use the Tarot as a guide for writing your own Tarot inspired stories..

Highly recommended!

Very engaging short stories that linked together nicely. And a great idea to use the cards as a springboard for creative writing but I suppose I was hoping for a further insight into the cards themselves which was not evident to me, but that might just be me being daft.
A great book of short stories, an ok book of tarot guidance.

This is a good guide to read the tarot. It allow us to know and understand its meanings as well as to make readings. The author takes the subject seriously and reverently. Her creativity is left to get the best of the cards.

Mythical Quality 12 Dec 2008
By Bonnie L. Cehovet - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
"The Tarot of Perfection" is a wonderful collection of short stories with deep esoteric meanings - stories that one could easily believe were written by some ancient Master, and translated for our edification. They carry a mythical quality to them, and are written in such a manner that every time they are read (and I for one intend to read them many times over!) some new truth, some new understanding will emerge.

The stories pull you in, and transport you to another world - and to worlds within that other world. They are magickal, fast moving, and absolutely amazing!

Take another look at the woman pictured on the front cover. Clearly her white face is meant to be a mask. But take another look at her shoulders and arms. To me, t hey have a very porcelan look that indicates that the entire person is wearing a mask, and that if I watch long enough, it will fall away, piece-by-piece, with a whole new person emerging. How often do each of us feel this way about ourselves? Scary, eh!

I was impressed that Rachel listed soemone from her life at the end of each story, indicating that this was who the story was written for. If the reader pays close attention, there is also a fleeting mention of a current Tarot wise-woman that will be familiar to many in the Tarot world.

This is a book that I recommend for someone who is interested in Tarot, someone who is interested in personal/spiritual growth, and someone who is interested in good stories!

A Bardic Gem 24 Jan 2009
By Kindle Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
A stunning offering from Goddess of Tarot, Rachel Pollack. I received this book from a friend in exchange for a reading. My friend knows that Pollack is one of my all-time tarot heroes (Mary K Greer is the other), which is why she chose this book.

In The Tarot of Perfection, Pollack has created a series of tales based on and around the tarot. These tales are like tiny, bardic gems, gently drawing you into the wonderful symbolism of the tarot in the same way a diamond draws you into its depths. It is one of those books that become a precious part of you. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

The Tarot of Perfection 6 Sep 2011
By Jezzoid - Published on Amazon.com

I am a huge fan of Rachel Pollack. I have several of her books, including Tarot Wisdom which I consult almost weekly. She has taught me so much. I have been reading Tarot cards for 24 years and Ms. Pollack and Mary K. Greer are my favorite teachers. This being said, I feel Ms. Pollack (or her publishers) rushed through this book. None of her characters are developed and the stories are too simplistic. Nothing rang true. It seems as if she had a deadline that could not be missed, even though the stories suffered for it. It does not seem at all like what I have grown accustomed to expect from her. The image on the front of the book is, from what I understand, part of her soon-to-be-released Oracle cards. The images that I have seen are amazing and Ms. Pollack swears they are dead accurate. I believe her. I will be the first in line to purchase her Oracle cards, but sadly, this collection of stories was mediocre at best.
