Rather than having to memorise multiple keywords for each Tarot card, Paul Quinn give detailed meanings for each card and makes them easily understandable through the use of story telling and by relating them to situations and easy to understand phrases which makes it easier to get an immediate 'feel' for the Tarot's meanings.
As well as giving detailed meanings for each card, Paul Quinn approaches the major Arcana (the first 21 cards) through the story of the 'Fool's Journey', which tells a tale about a naive and innocent boy (The Fool 0) who goes on an adventure meeting the people and situations in each card.
He also gives gives excellent examples of how a card would be interpreted in a reading, drawn from his experiences as a Tarot reader, as well as in depth advice and tips on reading, Tarot spreads to try, exercises and much more.
It's a well written, easy to understand, friendly and straight forward guide to the Tarot and I highly recommend it for beginners and for more experienced readers. It's definitely one of the better beginner books out there.
For the record, I don't think you can pick up any book and immediately become acquainted with the Tarot. You have to become familiar with all the cards over time, and as you do, things become clearer and a bigger picture forms. Paul Quinn gives a great start to forming that 'bigger picture'.
