I'm giving my first conference presentation and my laptop runs on Linux (Ubuntu 9.10) and my presentation software is OpenOffice Impress (3.1) - neither of these are officially supported; so I took a bit of a risk buying this laser pointer.

I can report that it worked first time with no effort - I just plugged in the USB receiver, opened the presentation and all the key functions just worked. Back, forward, screen on/off and exit presentation all work. The only button that doesn't is "start presentation"; but you can fix that by going to "Tools->Customise" in Impress and binding "Shift-F5" to "View -> Slide Show".

As a product, it is nicely designed: the USB receiver fits in the battery compartment so you don't lose it; there's room for a spare battery in case you lose power too. It fits comfortably in the hand and has a grooved back to stop it slipping from your hand.

Nice design, nice look and works well.

Great little gadget, especially love that it can contain an extra battery, so you're never left without, and a hideaway for the USB too. The only issue I occasionally have is that the USB has a tendency to get stuck in the computer - which freaks me out a little. But it's great to be able to teach from a variety of locations in the classroom rather than standing at the front near my laptop. :D

I do a lot of presentations to large groups using a projector and screen via a laptop. I wanted a wireless presenter so I didn't have to continually hop back and forth to the laptop to change the screens. I bought this on a recommendation and it works perfectly. This is one of those products that does exactly what you expect, efficiently and with no drama. It's easy to use, easy to install and quite simply just what I needed. You plug the stubby little wireless USB in your laptop or computer, the operating system automatically finds the little do-dah and off you go. Couldn't be easier!
For what it does, it's extremely good value; I like the way you can fit the little wireless USB inside the case of the presenter so it can't get lost. Besides seamlessly moving the slides on, there's a red laser beam for highlighting.
All in all, I can't imagine anything better and have already recommended it to loads of people. You won't be disappointed.

The presentation remote unlike other computer components like keyboards and mice doesn't need a lot of buttons although it can be a reason of embarrassment if some problem occurs while you are doing your presentation in front of lot of people.

I decided buying Targus wireless presentation remote because it's by far the simplest presentation device that can be found and by that from the start rule out the possibility that due to the pressure on the wrong option or some other banality you experience the discomfort that I mentioned earlier.

It is a nicely designed device, with safe grip that help in its holding. The device clicker lets you to move forward/backward with the clicking buttons and the power button is conveniently located on the side of the presenter so it can't be accidentally pressed during presentation. Additionally, the remote includes a locking system that locks the undesired buttons pressing during the presentation. It lets you to remotely control your presentation from a solid distance of 15m (50 feet) which is great because it is suitable for bigger presentation rooms or conference halls.

This presenter device includes a backup battery which prevents termination of its operation at the very moment when we need it the most. The USB receiver is stored inside the batteries compartment so you always have it under the control, preventing its loss. As with most of the presentation devices, the laser feature is available for highlighting the important parts of presentation as well as the backlit option in the buttons prevents pressing the wrong buttons in case of insufficient light in presentation room.

I tried it both on PC and Mac computer and it worked flawlessly.

In conclusion can be said that this pointer device has all the features that are needed to the majority of users and delivers them in a quality manner.
For this reason it can be recommended.

The online description (and the box) make reference to an area to store a backup battery. I found this strange because I could not see somewhere to do this. I went on with my life using the device assuming it was an error or I was being silly. That was until a co worker also purchased one. Hers has an extra area to store a battery which mine does not! So, my item was not as described. Almost as if they made a mark one model and mine was put in the mark two packaging. I bought it about 5 months ago before I realised so the time has now passed in which I could return it. Apart from that the device is great.

I bought this wireless clicker for academic presentations, when you need both laser pointer and slideshow navigation functions without standing at the computer. It served me well throughout my entire graduate school career and is still going strong today!

The clicker runs on AAA batteries and can last a long time before needing a replacement. (You'll know before it goes because the strength of the laser beam will dwindle.) It's capable of moving forward and backward through sides, entering and exiting a full-screen slideshow, and turning off the presentation screen (a useful feature while standing awkwardly at the front of the room waiting to begin presenting - and a feature others seem not to know exists!). Having the clicker to navigate your slides lets you fully concentrate on presenting and engaging your audience, rather than worrying about what's on the computer screen or trying to manoeuvre a dying departmental mouse around. The laser pointer lets you emphasize and show as you speak, without needing to hold a second device. (In my household, it also doubles as a great cat toy.)

I strongly recommend this device for anyone who needs to present regularly, especially in the academic or business worlds. I don't know how I would have made it through grad school without one!
