This is a really handy bit of kit.

I have it on my desk at work connected to a 22" HD monitor, USB printer, External HDD, USB wireless mouse, Ethernet and phone charging/data cable.

It plugs in to one of the USB ports on my laptop and connects everything up in 2 seconds.

Any laptop can be connected so when I'm out of the office my desk and all the peripherals can be used by anyone. They just need the drivers (included with Windows 7)

The video connection works well, allowing you to use the connected monitor as a duplicated or extended desktop. It's not quite as fast as using a VGA cable or HDMI but perfectly good for CAD, big spreadsheets etc. You can watch full screen video on one screen and carry on working on the other. Don't think it would be much good for games though.

I bought this docking station becuase of it's enhanced video capabilities, and it seems to do what the manufacturer advertises it can do. It only has a DVD-I socket, no VGA socket, but works fine with a monitor equipped with only a VGA socket if a DVD-I/VGA adapter is purchased (cheaply available on Amazon). It also works well with Windows7 Home Premium edition, just download the Windows7 driver for this docking station from the Targus web site. The dock itself is quite small, so doesn't take up much space.

I bought one of these to enable me to have a more permanent set-up for my eeepc at home. I just plug it into a USB port on my eeepc, and I get connected to my home ethernet, my DVI monitor, external audio, all my USB peripherals etc. A bit pricey, but does a good job. Installation of software was a bit tricky as I am running a non-standard XP set-up, but my wife's PC installed with no problem.

So far pretty pleased with it.

I purchased this product to try and simplify the number of wires I have to connect to my laptop, give me an easy connection to a larger and better display and make it simpler to swap connections to everything to my wife's laptop when she wanted to use my desk/peripherals. The laptop gets hot enough to cook off if left flat on a desk, which can't be good for it, so I also thought elevating the back on this thing might help extend its life.

I was hoping the box would replace all my connections to the laptop but it doesn't. I still have to connect the power supply, and I've bought a wireless keyboard and mouse which work much better if the usb bluetooth transmitter thing is connected to the computer rather than to the docking station as I had intended. No idea why, but hey this is IT, where nothing ever works quite like you'd want it to (and if it did they'd stop it in the next update, which obviously would load whether you want it or not).

But the most serious problem using the docking station is the periodic lock outs - the computer just freezes and you have to reboot a couple of times to get it to work again. This never happened before, my laptop is about three years old and has NEVER locked up before. If I had several hours spare I might try ringing the manufacturer, but I have too little faith in their interest in my problem to bother.

The instructions with the device are minimal, but I accept that it shouldn't need much. As a pretty average sort of guy I certainly had no problem in putting the thing together connecting it up and getting it working etc.

Bought this dock as I moved away from a Sony laptop to an Asus Zenbook. Asus do not support the business community quite like Sony so no Asus docking staion is available, but I have had numerous issues with Sony hardware in the past and just could not continue with having to return my current laptop to them for repair, 3 times in the last 6 months......Bye Bye Sony.....

I kept having the blue screen of death with this docking station, until i discovered that it was plugged into a USB3 port on the laptop. plugged it into the USB2 port and now its working fine.

Not a bad alternative to a bespoke docking station.
