I have been using powerpoint presentations now for a number of years in my job as a lecturer. Although many Data projectors come with a remote control, in my University these always vanish, leaving you tied to the laptop for changing your slides. This can be a problem due to the short cable usually supplied to connect the PC to the projector. For years I have wished I had a device like this, and having recently finally seen this Targus remote at a sensible price, I could not resist it. I have found that it works well as a control for PowerPoint and the laser pointer is an added bonus. The mouse side of things is less useful as it is quite difficult to accurately control the cursor. However that is not why I and I suspect most people will buy this. Note this model does have an on/off button, as I note several reviews of a Targus Wireless Presenter on various web sites state that it does not have a power button. Perhaps there is an older/lower spec model.

In short this is so useful I think decent Laptops really should come supplied with a device such as this as standard.

Excellent presenter. This latest model using toggle switches is significantly better than previous version BUT be warned. You are not allowed to carry this item on an aeroplane as it has a laser and has to go into hold baggage. The micro buttons are sensitive. My presenter was broken on a flight last week because the soft case allowed one of the buttons to be jammed in.
SOLUTION - cut up the plastic presentation case into a solid holder and wrap in bubblewrap whenever flying with presenter.
Yes I did buy another Targus, and yes I do recommend it.

I agree with the comments below. A good product with a flaw - in mouse mode tends to develop "mouse creep". Without touching any of the buttons in the mouse wanders off. I bought two one is fine and one is almost unusable. As a presenter it is fine as a mouse ...
Buy with caution.
