Product Description

Synopsis

Sara Michaels, owner of the self-help clinic The New You, is taking a group of ten women on a two-week sojourn into the Rocky Mountains to celebrate their newly found self-confidence. Her father, a senator and presidential candidate, has received death threats against his family. The FBI tells Sara of the threats, but she refuses to be intimidated and declines their offer of protection. Denver homicide detective Jaime Hutchinson is recruited to infiltrate the group of women and secretly provide protection. She reluctantly agrees only after being assured the assignment is purely for appearance purposes only. She has no desire to "baby-sit" a senator's daughter, so she views the trip as a vacation. After feigning injury on the trail, she is absorbed into the group as a tag-a-long. Soon, ten conservative women are playing matchmaker with Sara and Jaime. But her so-called vacation comes to an abrupt end when she notices they are being followed. Fearing Sara is the target of a real threat, Jaime is forced to confess her mission. She attempts to lead the group out of the mountains and away from the sniper's bullets. Will Jaime succeed in saving Sara?

4.0 out of 5 stars Classic Gerri Hill escapism, 15 Dec 2007
This was up to Gerri Hill's usual standard (if you discount the dismal "Cottage"). Well-researched, atmospheric, gripping and well-paced. Maybe just a bit of a cliche with the tough but charming cop and the deep and thoughtful therapist but who cares. It's a good yarn with a romance that blossoms at the right speed, sex at the right moment, snappy dialogue and satisfying conclusion.

4.0 out of 5 stars Gerri Hill just keeps 'em coming!, 22 Jul 2009

This was another winner from this author who never seems to disappoint (I have however been avoiding 'The Cottage' based on the poor reviews that this exception to the rule has received!). The Target is light and readable and the characters are credible and well illustrated. (Oh, and Jake McCoy making an appearance really cheered me up!!)I would highly recommend this to all Gerri Hill fans and will keep working my way through the rest of her books. Great, entertaining, easy-reading stuff!
