What I love most about Geraldine O'Neills books based on Tara Flynn, is the way that they make you become so involved in all of the characters. The characters are so true to life, each with their own personalities. I was completely wrapped in Tara's Fortune after the first few pages! William, a new, younger character, completely melted my heart! When he was upset, so was I! My roommate had to rush to get the tissues for me, hearing my sobs from across the room!! A truly wonderful book that I couldn't put down; I'm so sad i've finished it!

Tara's Fortune is a wonderful, gentle book set in the Ireland and North West England of the 1960's. I enjoyed the fact that it wasn't fast paced with action on every page - a reflection of our true lives.
Two women who, on the face of it, lead unremarkable lives are thrown sideways when disaster besets their husbands. Yet they come through the traumas, supporting each other and, ultimately, smiling.
I await eagerly the next installment in their lives.

I loved this book. I have read Geraldine O'Neill's other two books Aisling Gayle and Tara Flynn. And as before was held captive to the end. I was introduced to her writing by a dear friend of the author. Hopefully she will be writing for a long time. Can't wait to see what she comes up with next.
