The eagerly awaited new single from one of the worlds most influential bands is no disappointment. The opening chord absorbs you instantly back into the Siamese dream-esque guitar rich sound that we all got lost in the first time round. The song is well structured, has a lot going on (chord progressions, thundering drums, guitar solos), and most importantly, sounds like a smashing pumpkins song. It takes you places that no other pumpkins song has taken the listener before, yet doing so with a familiar pumpkins sound. A truly astounding first single, that you will play a hundred times and not get bored of.
The b side, death from above sounds more like a good futureembrace song, but that in no way is a bad thing. It is classic pumpkins b side material.
The first single is a really promising indication of the potential awesomenesses of Zeitgeist. A worthwhile purchase for anyone who is trying to discover the pumpkins, and a must buy for all die hard fans.
