This is what can only really be described as a mix tape produced by Foals made up of sounds that presumably the band are inspired by and are listening to.
If you were a fan of their 2nd album and only dabble with their first this may not be the album for you. If you enjoyed their first album, which Yannis described as "40 minutes of drones" on Never Mind the Buzzcocks, then this may be more up your street. Antidotes was the kind of album you listen to and think 'this is one cool album' and the same applies for this compilation.
I've listened to most of the album including the Foals Tapes Mix and on the whole it's a very chilled and has sounds similar to that of SBTRKT, Little Dragon and Caribou (a remix of Sun is featured on the album). If you enjoy that kind of music then the album is definitely worth buying, if you're more of an indie fan then you might want to think twice, listen to some of the samples first.
However this is a brilliant compilation (just listen to Variations by Nicolas Jaar) and would recommend it but as I say, it is definitely NOT your normal Foals material.
