Congratulations - if you've found Dude, Where's my Career? The Guide for Baffled Graduates, you're on your way to figuring out what on earth to do next, now you've left university.
I'm not one to toot my own horn - but I know your attention span is short. My advice has been featured in the Guardian, the Times, the Sunday Telegraph, the Independent on Sunday, the Scotman, GLAMOUR, thelondonpaper and The Week.
Why does my approach work? Because it's no-nonsense, no-theory and all-practice.
Finding a graduate was never easy - but for today's graduates it's a real schtinker. The stats may insist that the UK is 'officially' out of recession but graduates trying to find work in 2010 have first-hand knowledge that recruiters' confidence is still shaky - and they still aren't hiring uni-leavers in huge numbers.
Look, I'm not going to lie. I'm not an economist and I'm not a recruiter. I can't fix the recession and I can't create graduate jobs for you and all your friends.
What I CAN do is show graduates (and soon-to-be graduates) how to assess your options and make smart choices about your next step (watch out for the many banana skins laid out before you - especially if you're considering further study as a way to 'avoid' the recession).
I'll also show you a huge range of clever tricks to get ahead of the competition - which ever industry you're keen on - and maximise your chances of being one of the university leavers who does find a job in 2010. If you haven't chosen your career yet, I can help with that too (it's actually much easier than it seems).
I also guarantee that your money will be well-spent - graduates tell me that the advice in this book simply isn't available through the regular channels. Why? Because most university careers advisers don't really know what they're talking about*. But you're smart people, so you've probably worked that out for yourselves already.
* (with the exception of the fabulous Careers Group, who helped with this book.)
PS. If you need advice NOW while you wait for your book to arrive, I've just launched a fantastic new website called Graduate Fog - visit www.GraduateFog.co.uk for bonus tips and advice.
PPS. If you're feeling isolated - because job-hunting can be a lonesome business - then look up 'Graduate Fog' on Facebook. Alone, you are one. Together, we are many!
