For people who are uncomfortable with their sex life,

Rather like the Muirs` book, this book is written from the perspective that you are somewhat unhappy about your body or sex in general. The author was involved in Skydancing`s year long program ( Margo Anand`s Art of Sexual Ecstasy is the book for this course) and much of the content relates to their approach. I`m guessing but you do get the feeling that the author knows very little about sex and not much about Tantra. Admittedly Tantra is a huge field and some of its practitioners should be avoided if at all possible. However, if you`re a bit unhappy with sex and would like it to be a bit more spiritual then this may be a useful book for you. There is very little Tantra in it - and remarkably little sexual energy magic.Do not believe this is the limit to Tantric sex -it`s hardly even the begining. If you want to know what your body can do, this is not the book for you. There is a fantastic book on Sexual energy by Ellen and David Ramsdale called Sexual Energy Ecstasy which is incredibly comprehensive and embarrassingly good.

It's good for newbies but nothing new for anvanced students. It tells the background of the whole thing and how to be more sexuall body over mind.

An Enjoyable and Respectful Introduction to Tantra,

I disagree strongly with the previous reviewer, but I'm just learning about Tantra and he (Colin) sounds well-read on the subject. "Tantric Sex," emphasizes relationships, intimacy, and making sex sacred. I've seen a few other books on the subject that make Tantric sex seem like either a technical exercise or a "lost in the clouds" New Age endeavor. This book is simple and straightforward and practical, with a very sensual and reverential - - yet playful - - tone to it. If you're looking for a book to become a master of Tantra, this isn't it. But if you're looking for some introductory information about Tantra that makes for an enjoyable read, this might be the book for you. I'd like to hear from women who have read this book, because I feel that "Tantric Sex" provides information and stories that can guide many women into the kind of comfortable and meaningful sex they have always wanted. I have only recently entered into a relationship where the sex is more woman-focused instead of male-dominated, and the concepts discussed in this book are exactly what we were looking for, to help keep our relationship growing and vibrant.

I sat down at the bookstore and browsed four titles on Tantric Sex. I found this book to have the best combination of the factors that I was looking for. Namely, it is well-written, it provides a simple introduction to the history and meaning of Tantra and associated concepts, and most of all, it's practical. I wanted a book that provides a context for understanding Tantric Sex as much as one that will provide exercises for me and my partner to explore together. If you want a book that goes into the deeper cosmology of Tantra this is not the book for you.

I have read many books on Tantra and this book seems to me the most authentic in that it explains the importance of true intimacy and the exchange of energy in a straightforward way. it is not just a 98 ways to have sex manual.
There are anecdotes, but they dont get in the way of the information. I really like this book. |
