Tannoy have truly outdone themselves with this their first and I hope not their last digital speaker system for your iPod.

It's a Sleek, gloss black unit and minimalist in design and certainly looks the business, but more importantly sounds the business, crisp clear clarity, fantastic base and superb depth. My musical tastes are very eclectic and trust me I've listened to all sorts of music on this system from Bob Marley, Elvis Presley, The Stones, Beatles through to the Foo Fighter and The Killers and I cannot falter this iPod system it delivers at every level!

I can see that allot of time, love, care and attention has gone into every part of this system, even down to the packaging. When it arrived in a rather seductive box I opened it to find the system rapped in a beautiful white velveteen cover with a badge entitled "The Kit" and a smaller box inside entitled "The Bits" which included several common docking wells, 3.5mm auxiliary cable (to attach an iPod Shuffle, or other MP3 devices) remote control, CD manual and power cable which I was amazed to find fits directly into the back of the system, so no cumbersome external power supply to lug around, which is great if like me you like to travel with your iPod. The system itself also has a USB connection so you can sync directly with your iPod without ever removing it from the dock and also 2 slots so the unit can be wall mounted, a very nice touch.

I've hunted high and low having demonstration after demonstration on a Saturday afternoon of iPod speaker systems including the Apple Hi-Fi, Bose Sounddock, and Monitor Audio and so on. If like me you want to spend a fair bit of money on a system that's going to deliver and last then stop looking, it's finally here!

Overall a fantastic experience and a superb piece of kit 10 out of 10...

I have spent far too long testing a variety of ipod docks. I am finally very pleased with my purchases - the Klipsch iGroove and the Tannoy i30. Unfortunately I think the the Klipsch is the overall better of the two.

I just want to add a few comparisons:
vs Bose - Bose is definately better. Different sound interpretation of music. Bose slightly more forgiving of lower quality source material and better soundstaging and mid range. Value for money is a no brainer.
vs Klipsch iGroove - Better clarity of sound particularly mid range with iGroove. Tannoy goes louder and bass can be boomy. Tannoy was relatively disappointing in comparison. Before hearing the Klipsch it was very good.
vs Altec Lansing im600 - Much better bass and overall soundstage. im600 is truely portable though.

Also tested against cheaper docks - intempo ids-05 and Logitech Audiostation. Both very good for the relative cost but I would still recommend the extra cash for either the Klipsch or Tannoy.

I prefer the Klipsch but if you like lots of bass and volume the Tannoy is great value. It looks fantastic, plays well and is British.

Took delivery today of my i30. The packaging is good and on opening the box you know this is a quality product. The unit feels solid and looks the business. One major benefit is that the transformer is built in to the unit (Bose don't photograph their unit with a power supply and wires next to it!!). The unit also has an audio in which is handy for connecting a radio supply (The Bose doesn't).

Forget the TV out. It doesn't work with 3rd gen iPODs.

Setup is a doddle as you would expect with an ipod dock. I can imagine it would look good with the wall mounts. Need to find out where to get them?!?

I do have an issue with the original sale price. This does give the impression that at 100 quid this would be an absolute steal at the price. Not quite so. I currently have the Bose dock and a JBL On Time. I was able to pit one against the other fairly easily. Unfortunately the Tannoy doesn't stand a chance against the Bose. The sound is comparatively flat with ill defined bass (I couldn't understand previous comments that bass is too heavy). That said I paid £210 for the Bose.

My advise is that there is still no Bose beater (unfortunately) but at under half the price the Tannoy is seriously good value just don't expect the Bose.

I've owned several iPod speaker docks over the past 18 months; I suppose I'm a gadget geek and always striving for improvement - but always at the right price. When I saw the Tannoy i30 for sale @ £99 I knew from the reviews alone this was too good to miss and so I ordered one. It does not disappoint. The packaging alone is impressive and the first thing that strikes you is the weight of the speaker on its own..... well, something has to provide all that power doesn't it ?
Once your iPod is connected then you literally just stand back and listen in awe as it delivers. You increase the volume to high; it responds like a Porsche responds to a quick press on the accelerator - with ease and without problem. The sound is clear, punchy and precise and with great depth for such a small item. My only gripe was you are unable to access the iPods menu using the supplied handset - you have to physically remove the Ipod from the i30 if you want to change album. The handset seems only to advance or skip back on track selection. That said this is a real real bargain at the now reduced price of £99 and if you're serious about sound then unless you hitch your iPod to a hifi separates amplifier and speakers then you won't get any better than this, no matter how much you spend.
