An underrated and somewhat forgotten 80s testosterone fuelled cheesy action classic, best enjoyed with the sound turned up loud, beer and a pizza.Stallone and Russell work well as a team and there's lots of good action scenes and fighting. A great score from Harold Faltermeyer too. This film has never looked better on Blu-ray, naturally. A good solid transfer that noticeably improves over the DVD. There's a DTS HD audio track, and the video is an AVC encode and runs at an average of 20MB/s. The film is fully uncut. No special features apart from the trailer, sadly, but it's still a great buy if you're a fan of the genre. Buy it.

Tango & Cash is without doubt one of Stallone's best films. With great action, excellent soundtrack and more humour and one-liners than you could wave a stick at.
ie. Cash: "When we get out of here we can grab coffee and a Danish."
Tango: (with reference to his former money grabbing psycho of a wife) "I hate Danish."
Tango & Cash has it all.
Will there ever be a special edition DVD with a Stallone/Russell commentary track?

Tango and cash is another in the list of great buddy movies, and as usual its two guys who hate each other who have a united goal and end up great friends while killing and drawing blood from all manner of scum.

The movie stars stallone and kurt russell who are two cops from opposite sides of the city who are great at catching shipments of drugs, both are big headed and wise cracking and great at what they do and always want to outshine the other.

However a drug lord is annoyed at the pair of them and decides that if he gets them killed it will draw heat on him,but if he frames them for murder and drug dealings then they will lose respect and serve time in prison and maybe get killed by the criminals that tango and cash convicted.

Hence all of the drug lords plan comes to conviction as tango and cash head to jail and fight for their lives amidst some great jokes and puns and macho moments, the on screen chemistry between stallone and russell is good and all in all this is a feel good movie with blood and laughs.

Two top cops in different precincts are thrown together, when they are framed for murder by a drug & weapons dealer who they upset one too many times. The plot involves them escaping from prison calling in favours from family and friends to find the ones behind their imprisoning. This movie is cleverly put together with plenty of action and humour from beginning to end.
A little advice to the marketplace sellers you might want to lower your prices as this dvd is available on eBay for £10 all the time.

Ah the 80's - what a time it was, and remember those great buddy cop movies? Well, if you liked those, you're going to be rather smitten with Tango and Cash, a cop duo who share the same goal, to rid LA of a rather annoying Perret, who takes in riddles and just generally annoys the boys.

Tango and Cash and well known in the state, and are well rewarded for their heroics to stop drug deals, and other crimes. When they annoy Yves - they didn't expect their whole world to be turned on it's side, and their lives to be in such danger. Tango is more lavish, loves his suits and playing the stock market, where as Cash is a fighter and doesn't really care for people who waste his time.

I love the camaraderie in this movie, even though they don't like each other, they find it in themselves to collaborate for the good of the city. I also though Terri Hacher's role as Katherine was a great start to her career, and the typical 80s styling of this movie made it fun. The jokes and dialogue between the pair is classic cop stuff, and reminds you of the good days of Glover/Gibson in Lethal Weapon.

This Blu-Ray is pretty good, you get a decent DTS HD audio track, and the video is pretty clear for it's age. The video is AVC and runs at a steady 20MB/s, which isn't too bad. There are no visible problems with the video quality - though some might find the grain annoying, it's actually because of the film, rather than the transfer. There are tons of subtitles on this too.

I'm not impressed with the extras, all they offer is the trailer, so this is definitely more for the die hard fan than the passer by. Personally I was hoping the 20th anniversary edition would have some interviews and other bits and bobs, but no.

Tango & Cash Blu-ray Review

Distributor: Warner Home Video

Originally a slow burner at the theatres, Tango & Cash gained a wide cult following on video and remains popular to this day. Although similar in part to the Lethal Weapon franchise as far as the cop/buddy genre is concerned, Sylvester Stallone and Kurt Russell play out this film with added humour and more gratuitous over the top cartoon violence, creating an altogether fun ride for fans of mindless action movies. From the opening scene where Sylvester Stallone shoots up a truck full of drugs whilst proclaiming that "Rambo is a Pussy!" to the ultimate ground assault involving an "RV from Hell" do we know what kind of a blast we are in for here.

The film has been released previously on various DVD releases, all of which were sub standard affairs with a choice between the US release which was non anamorphic and of varying quality, or the anamorphic UK releases which had improved quality but had all been substantially cut by the BBFC. For this new Blu-ray release, Warner Home Video have provided a new 1080p 2.35:1 transfer which actually looks rather impressive. Colours are strong and black levels look accurate and there are no problems with print damage unlike the previous DVD releases. Admittedly the film will not compete with the new blockbuster movies in terms of transfer quality, but the overall detail in this transfer is clean and sharp and well above any reasonable expectations. It is also worth noting that this Blu-ray officially marks the first time that the film has been available fully uncut in the UK. All of the previous cuts to the more violent scenes are thankfully re-instated in this release.

Audio is represented with a 5.1 True HD soundtrack which is quite simply excellent.
