I'm maybe alone in the UK,of knowing about Jane Wiedlin's music,but how I wish I weren't alone.
This is her best album by far with not one bad track on it.
Tangled may be best known to UK listeners from being on the Pretty Woman soundtrack, even though it's only in the movie for nanoseconds.
Perfect moments came to me on Guardian Angel, and Paper Heart(a song to an old firend who succumbs to drug use).
But not one on the track is a filler,99 ways and Big Rock Candy Mountain are perfect pop, enough to make you sing along wherever you may be.
I feel Jane struggled in the UK where her bandmate Belinda Carlisle was more noticed, but this album prooves that she is the most talented member of the Go-Go's.
A hidden treasure that this fan was glad he bought on release over 20 years ago.
This album deserves many more listeners to hear it.
So what's stopping you???????

A lost treasure by former "Go-Go" Jane Wiedlin! 11 Mar 2006
By J. McDonald - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
As a member of the legendary rock group "the Go-Go's", Jane Wiedlin established herself as a talented song writer and a very capable rhythm guitarist. Jane began to venture out as a solo artist as far back as 1983, when she worked with "sparks" (on two songs including the top 50 hit "cool places"). Jane left the Go-Go's in 1984 to pursue a solo career, and with the exception of the #9 hit "Rush Hour" (in 1988) has existed just below the mainstream radar.

After scoring a top 40 single on her second album ("FUR") the pressure was on to deliver a commercial success with Tangled. Unfortunately, with the dawning of the 90's came a shake up in the music industry. Many artists from the 60's, 70's and 80's were suddenly lost in a sea of grunge, rap and "new country". Although the title track was included on the soundtrack to the blockbuster 1990 film "pretty woman", it seems that nothing could have saved this release from a quick commercial demise. Even without critical or commercial success, I believe that Tangled represents an artistic peak, and is the most satisfying release by Jane Wiedlin as a solo artist.

The song "Guardian Angel" is nothing short of a masterpiece, few pop songs achieve such magic. "Flowers on the Battlefield" is a wondrous exercise in mixing anti-war lyrics with amazing and sweet power-pop melody and harmony. "Big Rock Candy Mountain" is a wonderful, fun, treasure of a power-pop tune. Other great tracks include "Paper Heart" (co-written with Cyndi Lauper) and "Rain on me".

Tangled is by far the "best" of Jane Wiedlin and I consider it one of my all time favorite CD's.

Want plain vanilla? 13 Oct 2009
By LA's Rock Pile - Published on Amazon.com

If you do want plain vanilla then "Tangled" is your treat. Get beyond the great cover photo and the sizzle stops quickly. I'm not sure at what point the creativity died, but it was somewhere between "Fur" and this record. I love Jane, really I do, but this has none of the energy, uniqueness, or vibrant perky (yes, I said it) strength of her other efforts. Except for "99 Ways" the most disheartening aspect is that she takes no chances, and it all plays out rather dull as in let's think of a song title and build safe music around it. "End of the Day" and "Paperheart" are decent tracks but stand out sort of like being the world's tallest midget. If you want unabashed fun, energy, and a sense of her true personality get "Fur" or her self title debut. Out.
JANE WEIDLIN TANGLED 20 Aug 2012

A superb album where every song is worth in GOLD. You simply cannot miss this album if you've heard Tangled (Also featured on OST of 1990 blockbuster "Pretty Woman". MUST BUY....It's ironical that Belinda and Jane Weidlin could never get out of the shadows of The Go Gos. I strongly feel that their individual works were far better than their group. Can't miss out on this one.

A different side of Jane, a bit more subdued, enjoyable outing!

almost a masterpiece 21 Oct 2004
By mmveridiana - Published on Amazon.com

with an exception of "Paper Heart" and the tittle track all the songs are at least very good with the breathtaking "World on fire". the album best for walks in a city to look at the world passing you by from the perspective of a deep sunny and energetic island. just LOVE it!
