Rumour has it that the cover of the original lp put potential buyers off, not because Tane Cain wasn't photogenic - far from it - but because the impression given was that it was a Country & Western album! So C&W types ended up with a melodic rock album they didn't want, while melodic rock types didn't know what they were missing. The first three tracks are so accomplished that it remains a minor tragedy that Tane Cain didn't make another record. My Time to Fly is the classic - soulful light rock with memorable words and a heartfelt performance. Then again, another superb album from the same year ('82) also failed to do major business - the legendary Hughes/Thrall debut, also yet to be followed up! Maybe the fractious political situation at this point in the Cold War stopped people buying rock albums. Anyway, it's great to see this gem on CD at last.

I've waited for this album to become available on CD for years.

It should have been a hit and led to a long successful music career. It wasn't and didn't.

There are no tracks that disappoint.

If you like Pat Benetar, Journey (her husband was Jonathon Cain) and you get a chance to buy this album, I wholeheartedly recommend it.

this is an album that I had on vinyl, great music - well that's my opinion, im not into modern pop/rock, so this takes me back to mid 80s American AOR style

supposedly mastered from vinyl--but still sounds better than my old record 23 July 2010

At last this long lost album from 1982 by Journey band member Jonathan Cain's then wife makes its way to CD. I've read that this disc is mastered from vinyl, but don't expect to hear any vinyl pops, clicks or hisses. I didn't. The sound is very clean on this release and it's well worth picking up if you've been wanting a CD master of this album for years.

If you're not sure what to expect from Tane, this album is sort of like Pat Benatar light--a bit rockin' but not that much. Actually, it might better be compared to Quarterflash. It has hints of 'new wave' influences and power pop, but it's really just girl pop rock. No matter how you look at it, the best song on this album is definitely the only Top 40 single, "Holdin' On". This is a great pop rock track and should have scored higher than number 37 on the charts back in its day. You also get a duet between Tane and Jonathan on the rock ballad Almost Any Night. Other favorites of mine include Temptation (another guitar and synth rocker), Vertigo (the closest sound to Holdin' On), Hurtin Kind (very Quarterflash--without the sax), Danger Zone (VERY 1982), and Crazy Eyes (another Quarterflash style track). After that you get a couple more tracks: my time to fly and suspicious eyes, rounding out this very short 9 track album that barely breaks the 30 minute mark.

If you love 80s music, especially early 80s music that you haven't really heard before, this album is worth the purchase. And if you're a fan of Tane, then also try to land a copy of the soundtrack for the movie Terminator, which features a couple of Tane's absolute best 80s, very new wave tracks (although her name is spelled differently on that release, I guess to be futuristic and new wave: Tahnee Cain).

80's style rock! 8 Oct 2011

I'll never understand how she never became truly famous! She deserved more attention thats for sure. She's taken her clothes off in absolutely dozens of films so that never helped. Beautiful and talented certainly better than most at that time. Once married to Jonathan Cain, Daughter of Doug McClure her most popular move role being the mother in Legally Blonde. She was originally a jazz singer in a band prior to this album. Later appear in the band Tahnee Cain & Tryanglz for the soundrack of the 1984 movie The Terminator. This album was played over and over during Journey tours prior to them coming onstage yet, I never knew anyone that knew her music. She sang briefly in the movie "Crawlspace" though I admit it's one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Truly this woman never got the time in limelight she truly deserved. This is an awesome collection of songs and well worth the time and money!! A must Tane moment also search youtube "Soakin Wet" this was a popular duet at the time and released as a 12". She just never got the airplay.

AWESOME CD! 16 Nov 2009

I purchased this album back in the early 80's. I just about wore the album out. I finally recorded it to cassette and had to record it several times. I never understood why Tane didn't have additional releases. She is very talented and I really enjoy her music. Thank you for releasing it on CD. It's now in my pickup and I have been listening to it since it arrived.

I am so happy this has been released on CD. This cd is great and reminds me of growing up in the 80's. I can't understand why nobody else has heard of this. I ordered the cd on a Friday and got it on Monday. It couldn't have come any quicker.
