4.0 out of 5 stars Nice little accessory 11 April 2010

I like to travel with a tripod when doing photographic work but cant always carry a large carbonite tripod on planes. I bought this and whilst it is lightweight it has gotten me out of a few fixes. Easy to put up, easy to put away and as long as your camera isn't too heavy i.e. my Nikon D3 is but my Nikon D90 and P600 are great for the tripod, than this is a cheap accessory which you should have, Are there any downsides? yes. Its just one height, i.e full height you cannot just have it half erected so close -up ground shots are a no-no.

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for trip 27 Jan 2011
This tripod is extremely light and perfect for traveling.
It takes only 10 seconds to set it up with an amazing action.
The problems are the strength of the legs and that the head of the tripod is fixed and you can't change it.
However, if you use recent (light) DSLR and a short lens for travel uses it shouldn't be a problem.
if you want a stable tripod this is not the best choice.

4.0 out of 5 stars VERY USEFUL PRODUCT 26 April 2011
    By SG
First saw this reviewed on "This week in photo" a photography podcast from the US hosted by Frederick Van Johnson. Sent off for one straight away. I have used it several times and its really usefull!.
Once you take the two straps off and let go of the pieces, they all snap into place as if by magic! No good for serious photography / or heavy lenses / long time exposures.
But for a quick timer release photo of you and the family - it can't be beaten! Light weight, and fits inside your pocket. A decent ball joint on the top - but be aware there are no hight adjustments, and the length of the legs is not adjustable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Handy item and good value 7 July 2011
Bought this tripod after looking carefully through the reviews of similar items. Some suggested that it was a bit flimsy for use with a full size digital slr. I have tried it out with a Nikon D80 fitted with an 18-200 VR lens and it is stable enough for all but the most serious use. I mainly wanted to use it to shoot video using a Lumix TZ7. It easily copes with this and the adjustable head makes it easy to clamp in the desired position.
There is no height adjustment, so you have to choose the location you shoot from to give you the right angle. It's very compact to carry, sets up in a few seconds and appears sufficiently robust to last a good while. I also thought that the price on Amazon was good value.

1.0 out of 5 stars Expensive flimsy junk 10 Oct 2013
    By Alan

There are very similar products to this available at 1/3 the price.

I paid the extra as I thought I would be getting a superior product. I was wrong.
This is junk. The head falls off as your carrying it. So have to keep back tracking to see where its falled off.
Then the screw fell out so it no longer attaches to the camera.

I was asked to email the UK Tamrac office for a replacement and I never got a response.

I am now doing my own repairs.

My advice is don't waste your money on this

I bought this after watching a Youtube video, that got me interested in the portability of the Zipshot.
Yes it looks fancy - and I needed something light and portable when just going out light.

I like the fresh approach toward tripods and find it to be working in the field.
My DSLR is quite heavy on this one and would not trust it if it is windy. It is not possible to
adjust the height very accurate - then You have to get creative - but actually I like the simplicity of that.

The main disadvantage is that it is a bit flimsy - so You have to be careful not to tip it over with Your camera on.

So - I would especially recommend this for holding a flash in the field - that is were this one really shines.

4.0 out of 5 stars Zipshot tripod 25 July 2013
    Verified Purchase
I bought this product as a present for a friends birthday, he really likes this tripod. It is because the tripod is so easy to set up, even for a novice. You take off the cords holding the legs, snap the legs together and attach your camera, that's it! To some buyers, the fixed height maybe a disadvantage, but for a novice, with a lightweight point and shoot camera (NOT A DSR) it is prefect for trying out the advantages of a tripod. It may not be the cheapest tripod on the market, but, because my mum has had a similar model zipshot tripod for a few years with no problems, I decided to go for it over some of the other tripods on the market.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's OK for what it is! 7 May 2013

Extremely light and small, works well with smaller cameras (I use it with a Sony RX100). Wind can rattle it, so you have to be careful, but this is to be expected with such a light tripod.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good for compacts
I bought this hoping it would hold my (relatively light) DSLR, but it is not strong enough for that. It would be good to hold a small compact camera.
