This Tamrac is an excellent quality case, well-made, well padded with foam, and comes with a 2 1/2 cm wide detachable and adjustable shoulder strap with very sturdy fixings and a flap with protective side bits that clips securely over the external pocket onto the front of the case. It also has a belt loop on the back which secures with both velcro and a popper to make it easy to take on and off a belt. It's also worth mentioning that the strapping material which the strap clips onto extends completely round the underneath and sides of the case which must make it even more robust and is the sort of attention to detail which marks this case out from the crowd.
I rather like the look of the contrasting checked material on the flap too. Yes, it's a bit bulky (approx. externally 15H x 10W x 7.5D cm), but it's really meant to be worn with pride not slipped into your handbag. A handsome, rugged little chap who will guard your camera well, I think.
As for the price, well, at the time of writing this review, I could only find one online shop that was cheaper than Amazon (by £1) but it had an extra P&P charge, so if you're ordering another item(s) as well as the camera case to get free delivery, it would definitely work out cheapest to order from Amazon. Why not order a book on digital photography as well?
By the way, I weighed up this case against the Lowepro Z20, and it seemed to me from pictures of it that rain could get into the Lowepro's front external pocket because the flap only partially covers the opening - there are gaps at the sides. I have the same problem with my handbag which has a similar flap - everything in the front pocket gets damp. I think the Tamrac is better designed in this respect.
Tamrac TA5691 Digital sound cheap too good to be true, what the heck with Amazon selling it I took a gamble. Read more
