I have had this Tamrac bags before and they always feel very well put together. I have amassed a lot of equipment and will be investing in another DSLR for work, so I was very happy to buy this bag when I saw it for a very reasonable price.

First impressions, The outside

The first thing I thought when I opened the box and saw the bag was 'Oh, this looks rather small, I hope this is a mini Tardis. The build quality is up to Tamrac's normal high standard and the padding is good. The outside pockets are an ok size and should fit a few things in.

First impressions, The inside

'It takes a bit of getting into, this doesn't look good. not a lot of space. I don't think I am going to get everything in there'.

Practicality

I wasn't as impressed with the practicality of the Pro 12 as I thought I would be. In theory I am sure it can carry 12 mixed items, with a bit of a squeeze but in reality I definitely would say you are looking at a lot less, if you are carrying two pro bodies, appropriate lenses and flashes. I would say that the bag needs to grow an inch in all directions to make it more practical and that it really carries around 9 items practically (including 2 pro level cameras)

The front pockets are in many ways practical, allowing me to store, 4x memory cards easily, an MP3 player, telephone and light meter with no problems, You should be able to fit in cables batteries and other items, though it does fill up quite quickly. The inside top Pockets can fit in filters and bits and bobs but I am disappointed that they are split into 2 sections which is a bit of a pain.

This is very well made large capacity bag. It easily carries my holiday kit of two DSLRs with lenses attached, two additional lenses, battery grip, battery charger, spare filters, sim cards and batteries together with other odds and ends. It is heavy when full but that's only to expected with such a lot of kit. The shoulder strap and hand strap spread the weight well. In addition to being very well made the bag also looks good. It is within airline carry-on size but you do need to check to see if your airline has any wight restrictions. I am pleased with this purchase and would recommend the bag to anybody wanting to carry a large amount of kit.

A prettyy large bag - ideal for keeping all your gear in one place and useful if you move around a lot by car.
Probably on the large side if you plan to carry it a lot but it does hold a ton of gear and it is very well made

This is a large professional camera bag, the Pro 12 protects two digital or film SLRs with lenses attached, multiple additional lenses and accessories. The front pocket features Tamrac's memory & battery management system that uses red flags to identify available memory cards and batteries from ones that are used up.

The foam-padded main compartment features Tamrac's lens-bridge divider system. The dual action top has quick-access easy squeeze buckles plus an internal zipper for extra protection. Pockets inside the top keep filters and accessories visible and organized. The two zip drop front pockets feature mesh and equipment pockets to organize accessories and personal items.

Other features include foam-padded end pockets, tripod straps, a foam-padded plastic bottom for added protection, a zipped back pocket, easy grip handle, a curved shoulder strap and piggy-back pocket that you can slide over your main trolley handled suitcase.

You can add further Tamrac accessories using the attachment slots for their strap accessory system (S.A.S.) products to customize this large pro bag to enhance your camera needs.

However, be warned, if this bag is fully loaded then it can be a bit on the heavy side, without any of the accessory system being added.

On a recent trip abroad I took this bag with me loaded with a Digital SLR, Canon 70-200mm Zoom Lens, Canon 50mm Lens, Sigma 18mm-24mm Zoom, Flash, plus Compact flash cards and various accessories, it handled them with no problems. Please be aware, that some airlines weigh hand luggage, so make sure you keep within the recommended limits or it can become very expensive.

All in all, I would highly recommend this bag as an alternative addition to handle your camera system, especially when taking on a flight.

I bought this bag about 8 months ago because my kit had outgrown my previous bag. I generally carry two Nikon D80s together two battery grips and four lenses plus filters, battery charger, lens cleaning kit and so on.

One thing that I particularly like is that the bag is long enough so it that will hold two camera bodies each with a battery grip and lens attached. This means that I can minimise the times that I have to change lenses and so help to keep the dreaded dust away from the camera sensors. The lenses that I generally leave attached to the cameras are a Nikon 18-200 zoom and a Sigma 10-20 zoom.

The internal dividers can be moved about and reconfigured to suit your own requirements. The top zips down over the main compartment and connects to the sides and front of the bag with four plastic clip buckles.

There are two side pouches which are still accessible when the main compartment of the bag is all zipped up. These are held close by velco patches. I find these quite useful for things like a mobile phone that you want use without opening the whole case.

It can get fairly heavy when loaded with kit but the shoulder strap and handle do a good job of spreading the weight. The bag is within airline carry-on size but be careful if the airline imposes a weight restriction on hand luggage.

The only disappointing thing about the bag is the so-called `Piggy-Back Pocket' which is supposed to allow the bag to be slipped over the handle of rolling luggage. I can't get this to work - every time I've tried to use it the bag swivels round the handle of my luggage. Nevertheless, this is a minor problem and I now leave the pocket closed and use it to carry a newspaper or magazine.

Overall, I'm very pleased with this bag and would recommend it anybody wanting a well made camera bag that can carry a large amount of kit.
