Weird that I had to rate this as a 'TOY' ???? such as "How much fun is this toy?" how weird is that?

I use it to mask off bindings on Guitars and Mandolins (that I build) when sunbursting or spraying an amber colour to the front spruce. This tape is amazingly flexible real low tack that adheres superbly and doesn't melt when spraying Nitrocellulose. Removing it - it comes away easily and the finish does not get damaged at all. Great for masking rosettes and any detail you do not want to be covered in colour when spraying a finish.

What would us modellers do without Tamiya's masking tape. Rather like the aerospace industry relies on duct tape to hold real aeroplanes together, model builders would be unable to do anything worthwhile without a roll or two of Tammytape.

It's principal use is to mask off bits of your model that you don't want painted - transparent canopys for instance. Make sure you have a good sharp scalpel for trimmng the masking away from the canopy frames and then carefully rub down the tape to prevent paint from leaking under it and staining the canopy where you want it to stay transparent.

I also use it for masking off invasion stripes. Normally these come with the model as waterslide decals, but I like to paint them on nowadays. I spray the model with white primer and then mask off the area to be striped and paint on the camoflage. Then remove the tape and you have a nice white base for the stripes - simply re mask the areas that you want to stay white and paint on the black stripes. Presto majesto - proper "painted-looking" invasion stripes...

Tammytape is also good for holding your model together while you "dry fit" the parts (to check that everything goes together properly and to practice the build) and also while the glue bonds. You can get through a lot of tape this way, so it might be more economical to use decorating masking tape for this sort of job.

Photo of the sort of effect you can achieve uploaded.

Excellent tape for model making. Sticks well and does not take any colour off when removing. Far better than normal masking tape and well recommended.

I have built many planes and I have used this tape n every one of them, it is strong, sticks well, doesn't peel off paint and is really worth the money as it goes far and can be re-used and refilled.

If you model or do crafts, or anything that requires fine taping, this is for you!!

Easy to work with, strong enough to help during setting, a delight to cut/trim and masks from.

This is a thin, narrow and low tack masking tape in a useful dispenser. I dont just use this for masking, it is great for holding large model components together before running liquid cement into the join. It is easily cut with a new scalpel blade for clear canopies etc, and it conforms well to complex curves. You do have to let your paint cure for a couple of days or this will lift chunks off low tack or not.

You can also get refills and wider sizes.

The tape arrived promptly after the order was placed it was well packaged and in perfect condition. The tape is of excellent quality idea for use when airbrushing and the dispenser is ideal for keeping the tape in perfect condition. I would definitely purchase this product from the Hobby Company again. Excellent.

Used this for making a Death Star Pinata (masking the pattern off before painting the darker grey). Very easy to use and peeled off without damaging the paint underneath. The paint did bleed a bit though so my learning would be to use a drier/thicker paintbrush or a spray paint.
