This is a great book with which to begin bibliotherapy with the depressed patient. It has lots and lots of cartoon pictures and is light, entertaining reading. (I recon that giving someone a great big fat book is great: so long as they are not depresed, they will be able to read it.) The main strength of the book is that it describes the symptoms of depression and thereby demystifies it. It has a little less emphasis about what to do about depression. At the time of writing, Amazon says that once cay buy "new and used for $41." If you go to an Australian site, you will be able to get it for about half that. Even then, it is quite dear when its physical size is considered.
