Product Description

Product Description

Rylan Walker and his partner in crime, anthropologist Ursula Deiss, push deep into a dangerous rain forest in Madagascar with a group of scientists. In the jungle, they find a population of cryptic man-like primates. Their discovery quickly draws them into a vortex of an ancient conspiracy that is bound to change mankind's destiny.

Enriched with extensive facts drawn from the fields of anthropology, swarm intelligence, and information science, Talus takes the readers from one vibrant location to another, zapping them from Madagascar's uncharted rain forests to Oxford's dark libraries and from Paris's melancholic back streets to Sicily's sunny vineyards.

A team of explorers find themselves in a dangerous jungle. The story is fast paced and full of anthropological and scientific details. A high-octane cocktail of SciFi, action, cryptographic, speculative, conspiratorial, and metaphysical elements.

Modern Indiana Jones based on real theories 20 May 2010
By Jamie - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
I am an anthropologist and like science fiction books with anthropological elements. I was impressed that this book was based on facts and real theories (fact: Neanderthals, real theory: the existence of other human-like creatures - big foot etc - , now). It reads a little like a modern day Indiana Jones but the author creates his own fictional theory, which is also interesting, based on real scientific understanding. I read this during vacation and it was light enough to be a beach book. Overall I enjoyed it.

Editor slacked off 8 Dec 2010
By T. Hayes - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
An interesting premise, with adequate character development, but my expectations when descriptions combine the terms "anthropological" and "science fiction" run more to the style and polish exhibited by C.J. Cherryh, so I found the editing (or lack of it) a trifle distracting. "Inpatient" describes somebody checked into a medical facility, for instance, it's not an adjective describing a hurried approach.

A quick read, likely to please those open to the notion that Yeti/Bigfoot legends have a real-world basis rather than being pure fiction, Talus could have benefited from more diligent editing, both in terms of details and, arguably, overall flow.
A page turner 29 Oct 2011
By Marco Papaya - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
This book is easy to read and fast paced. The story is an unusual combination of different things like telepathic creatures, a secret organization, and science of anthropology. It starts in a jungle and then travels you to different places. If you are into in-depth character building, detailed scene descriptions, and stylistic literary word plays, then this book is probably not for you. This book feels like you are watching a movie. If you are looking for something different, try it.
