Henry Blake s books show a real understanding of horse psychology and offers invaluable practical advice. --Tatler

The inclusion of a dictionary of horse language is I imagine unique and is a fascinating study… Talking with Horses helps us to understand horses better. --Riding Magazine

Product Description

If you want your horse to do what you want, you have to learn to think as he does, and to communicate with him in his own language. Henry Blake has spent a lifetime with horses, and as he quickly discovered that he had the rare gift of being able to think like them and with them. Here he explains how you can learn his gift too. With the help of this wonderful book you can learn to communicate with your horse in the language a horse uses - telepathy and extrasensory perception - and to convince your horse that he wants to do what you tell him. You will build up a vital rapport with your horse so that working together you will think and move as one animal. "Talking with Horses" is a revelation to read and an indispensable companion for all riders and horse owners. It will change your whole approach to the training and management of horses.

I have read all three of Henry Blakes books and highly reccommend them. His books are enjoyable and easy to read. He has a natural empathy with horses, and takes the time to think like they think - a sort of english Monty Roberts crossed with James Herriot. He discusses the various horse characters in his life, their problems and how he dealt with them, and caused me to see my own horses in a new light. I first read the books in the eighties, have dipped into them since, and still find the horse psychology applicable and useful now. I suppose the bottom line is that it is great horse psychology all wrapped up in superb story telling.

Talking with horses 17 Mar 2003
Format:Hardcover
I initially bought a secondhand copy for my sister to replace the one she lost a number of years ago but after I started reading it I realised I had to order one for myself too! It is invaluable to compare with the many methods of horse teaching and training methods to which we have access today, and at 50yrs of age, I've
seen enough to recognise some of the older ways being passed off as 'new'.This man has so much knowledge of the horses mind; something which has been sadly neglected in recent times, and latterly has re-emerged as a seperate subject to their behaviour in many cases.
Well worth reading.

Ahead of its time... 20 Jan 2003
Format:Paperback
This book is a wonderful and easy to read book which encourages the reader to handle and react to horses differently. Thinking way ahead of its time, but maybe now a little dated (still believes in punishment as part of training?). Mr Blake obviously has a very special gift and this book goes in some way to explain how to do it, but its not a step-by-step guide and some of the more difficult subjects such as telepathy and esp aren't explained (in my opinion) fully.

A good book nevertheless, well deserves a read.
