I read this book in two nights, through many tears, and when I should have been sleeping. In other words, it's an easy read, it moved me, and it kept me awake. It's not an amazing piece of brilliantly written literature. Nor is it a light "beach read". It's a lovely story, simply told, about what we do when there is little time left. Having recently lost my mother to a long battle with cancer, I identified with the conversations and emotions and "female-ness" of the book. Some of the insights are fresh, and thought-provoking, even if the writing and the plot isn't. It's definitely worth reading, particularly if you fancy yourself someone with diverse tastes. So what if some of the characters seem stock, some of the situations contrived? The emotional heart and thrust of this story are what matter most.
