Interactive dvd which speaks with a female and male voice. Good activities to encourage learning. Can download words on to ipod but unfortunately Talk Now! Learn Chichewa (PC/Mac)it has the words in Chichewa without saying the english for them.

I really like this product. All the interactive games and things on the CD Rom are really helpful. It has a printable dictionary with pictures that you can stick on your wall to help you memorise words. It's excellent. However, one of the main reasons I bought this is because it comes with an dictionary that can be put onto your Ipod............but..........the words are only in Chichewa. Most language CDs of this kind have the word in English followed by the word in the foreign language so that you can listen and learn whilst driving, running, washing up etc. The English words appear on your Ipod screen so if you're sitting looking at it you know what the words mean but if you're only listening to it, it's just a series of meaningless words. Having said this, this is the best product I've found for learning Chichewa. It's just a shame that they didn't get the Ipod bit right. Would highly recommend the rest of the product though.
Very disappointed about this software as the producers have put not effort in localising it to an African setting, I have thought about sending it back and asking my money back. The teachers in the software are white, among the country names that can be learned there is not African country and mainly Western countries and most strikingly one of the words in the food category is chopsticks, which has absolutely no relevance to the countries where Chichewa is spoken and where people eat with their hands. Moreover, my Malawian friends had never even heard of this word and said it was a very direct translation out of English.
