Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

The final book in the chilling Tales From the Wyrd Museum, following hot on the heels of The Woven Path and The Raven's Knot, is a thrilling conclusion to an excellent series, and is also a great "stand- alone" book for anyone who has a love of powerful images, masterful wordsmithery and mysterious and passionate drama.

The Wyrd Museum is located in a dark and dingy alley-way in London's East End, and cared for by the strange Webster sisters. But something has come to disturb the slumbering shadows and watchful walls of the forbidding museum and Miss Ursula Webster prepares to fight to the death with the strange new threat. Neil Chapman, caught in the unforgiving Web of Fate, is drawn into the battle, but is there really anyway he can stop the tide of time and Doom?

A cracking good read, bone-chilling in the extreme and edge-of-your-chair exciting to the bitter end, The Fatal Strand is the kind of book that older readers who enjoy being frightened out of their wits for pleasure will clamour to read. Certainly not one for the fainthearted, but a darn good read from Robin Jarvis whose remarkable imagination coupled with his extraordinary storytelling talent will make him a favourite with anyone who loves a good fright. (Ages 11 and over). --Susan Harrison --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

This is a fitting final installment in the 'Wyrd Museum' trilogy. Jarvis weaves a compelling tale of mythic proportions, convincingly combining contemporary concerns with mythic magic. His willingness to question the dichotomy of 'good' and 'evil' is magnificent, providing questions children will ponder long after they have read the book. Full of suspense, and very frightening at times, this is a book that should not be read before one goes to sleep, unless one wishes to be chased by Tick Tock in one's dreams! The characters are well developed, as is the plot, and the little touches that link the text to the previous two novels are subtlely done. The great battle between amoral universal powers are utterly convincing, and without the stifling reverence too many have approached such figures with in the past. I still have questions regarding certain aspects of the plot, such 'Why was Ygdrassil, and The Norns, in London instead of Oslo, but the fast moving pace pushed my questions aside. This is a novel, and a trilogy, I would recommend anyone to read - it is exciting and frightening enough to be enjoyed by children, whilst also having enough substance to keep adult readers gripped feverishly. More Quoth, please!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have been searching for the final part of this on cassette for a few years. Listening to it in the car. A bit more disjointed than the first two but exciting nontheless. Recomend it to both young and old alike with various concepts woven through it that all age groups can pick out while listening. Some of the 'reveals' are a bit obvious but then it is a story for the younger agegroup.

What a climatic end to a fantastic tale! We see Neil Chapman fighting off the horrific Frost Giants, Ursula finally revealing her ultimate plan, and a powerful foe to reckon with! I loved this book; it was such a sad tale yet filled with adventure and suspense that keeps you yearning. It was so good; I wish Philip Pullman had made another to add history to the trilogy like 'Lyra's Oxford'. Chilling throughout, it holds you captivated. I especially enjoyed the blasts to the past when we see the sad history of the Sisters unfold. A must buy! Read em and weep.
