An interesting and engaging story preceding the story of the Video game it is based on. Tales of Vesperia: the first strike, contains aspects of comedy but mainly focuses on action and developing and explain the relationships between characters. While it is a prequel, it may be a little lost on those who haven't first played through the video game (on Xbox360, as well as on the ps3 in japan)
however it does provide some condensed basic information about the world the story is set. The quality of the animation is superb and the film is of satisfactory length. Those with an aversion to scenes of a graphic nature be warned though as the gore in this feature is increased considerably compared to the amount displayed in the game, although I found it a welcome addition.

I have but one complaint about some very minor story contradictions, however once again these would go unnoticed by anyone who has not played the game. Still, I recommend this to anime and tales fans alike.

If anyone is wondering, this is the English DUB. As I was unsure when I purchased.
It really is a great film and if you have played Tales of Vesperia and loved it, then this is a must.
Tells a bit more about the characters historys.
