Comedy fantasy series with a Pratchetteque/Carry On Blackadder twist, but written for children. A slightly more sophisticated read than the Lost Diaries, with a bit more edge.
The Dark Forest is a world. Cities, towns and villages exist like islands in a green sea, while in the Forest itself live hermits, wizards and all manner of weird and wonderful creatures – some invented, some strangely familiar.
BOOK 2: WHIZZARD!
The story of Tym, apprentice to the local wizard, who accidentally invents a new potion that causes them to move at incredible speeds. (Not to mention some rather dire side effects!)

An exciting read great for young readers and lovers of magic,
By A Customer
This review is from: Tales of the Dark Forest (2) - Whizzard! (Paperback)
The two Steves have again produced a great fun read which is a mixture of comedy and action. The story of Whizzard revolves around a boy named Tym who can run so fast everybody and everything in the dark forest seem like statues to him. Tym goes on a dangerous quest to save the lovely Lady Zamarind who has been stunned by the glare of a cockatrice. On his quest he meets a variety of characters including some gnomes, pirates and a Cumhera from whom he needs to take a scale to save the Lady Zamarind. The book contains many of the characters introduced in 'Good Knight', the first book of the Tales of the Dark Forst Series, but introduces several additional creatures which adds funny twists to the highly entertaining plot. Overall this is a fun book to read which will keep you fascinated in the world of the dark Forest. Well done to the Steves.

Whizzard: Tales of the Dark Forest,
By Miranda Bradshaw - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Tales of the Dark Forest (2) - Whizzard! (Paperback)
It is a great adventure book about a boy called Tym, who is an apprentice to a mean old wizard. Whilst the wizard is out Tym makes a potion that allows him to run so fast you can't see him. He manages to get himself into loads of scrapes because of this, including nearly killing the girl he is in love with accidently (who happens to be a princess!)It all works out in the end, and for those of you who have read the first book, the Harp and Runemaster plus Luigi and Humpfrey Boggart are in this book too. Look out for the next book- Trollogy.
