Product Description

Product Description

An army of fox hounds hunt a red fox named STREAK across the Great British countryside. It is the Dark Army, and its leader BAAL is gaining on his prey until his human masters halt his progress, allowing the fox to escape into a vast forest known as Averon. The exhausted fox is later roused by two other foxes, DORAN and TALI, who take him to their den known as Shadow Oak, and their leader KEDEM, who suggests that Streak stay with them until he is fit again to venture out on his own.

Baal and the Dark Army prepare to launch an attack on the forest and all animals willing to harbor the fox who escaped their clutches, whilst the foxes must find a way of defending themselves and the great forest in which they live. Aided only by a mysterious barn owl named CYRIUS, an adventure begins in which the animals of the forest must attempt to unite with each other before Baal and his great army is released.

Not my normal read I must admit. I encountered this title while reading it to my niece and enjoyed the reaction she gave it. She is 10 going on 15. I really enjoyed the settings and surroundings, as I live with wooded areas and fields around. It's nice to read the camaraderie the author creates between the characters(allies) and also the tension between sworn enemies.Hope you can also enjoy.

i read this book as an alternative to the current books for young adults, and was quite impressed with a book that seems to be passing quietly by. It contains adventure, action and an interesting set of characters that move the interesting story along. Its a good insight in to british wildlife, and with its characters all animals puts a different twist on most books out there. It is at its core a book about good vs evil and at times may be a little predictable, and i also would have liked it to be a bit longer, but the characters and story kept me engaged and now awaiting the sequel. I would reccommend this book to anyone who likes a story of good vs evil battling against each other, just for the characters and world that the author has created. i hope that the sequel is longer and a little less predictable, but think this may possibly turn in to a series of books that may turn a few heads.
