Book Description

Unknown to the humans who hanged innocent people at the Salem Witch Trials, real witches of the hidden race were slaughtered on the belief that they had betrayed the hiddens to the humans. Not one witch survived the genocide, or so it was believed for more than three hundred years. Until one day a girl named Aradia moves to Salem, Massachusetts, and all that changes.

Warning: this book contains strong language and sexual references.

3.0 out of 5 stars YA supernatural story 19 Nov. 2011
By Cheryl M-M TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
For a predictable YA I suppose it was ok, nothing mindblowing or original. There were a lot of parallels to other well known para/supernatural series out there, but then again there is only so often you can create something new in that particular genre. I found it very younger than young YA and the dialogue was very B movie. However I am sure this is the kind of book which will absolutely appeal to teenagers, so perhaps I am just to old and jaded.

4.0 out of 5 stars Would highly recommend this story 3 July 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I really would have liked to give this book 5 stars but due to a fair few misspellings and grammatical errors within the story I could only give it 4/5. The story itself I would give a whole 5/5. I loved the character development from the start including the main character Aradia (I would love to know if I'm actually pronouncing her name right too).

I liked the fact that this story started with a prologue, it filled you in on what the story was about before it started. I liked this as it set the scene and welcomed you to Aradia's world.

There's everything in this book from vampires, to faeries, to werewolves. Each character is described with enough detail so you feel like you know them and each has their own back story. Even the settings are given great detail so you can easily imagine the world.

I would say this story is aimed more at young adult, though I myself am 23 and I throughly enjoyed it from start to finish. I would recommend this book to anyone and can't wait to read the second part to Aradia's amazing story.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great start... 3 Jan. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I really enjoyed this book, the characters were very well described and the settings also.

The story itself was well written and the overall plot good and quite solid.

Being someone who is really in to magic and the paranormal/fantasy genre etc, I may have expected more but then I remembered that this is a YA book and I realised my mistake.

I liked how the flow of the story brings about the characters and how they all fit in the society that has been created by the author.

I'm looking forward to the next parts of the series to see how the overall story line pans out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it! 16 Feb. 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Set in Salem it tells the story of Aradia the last of her kind - a witch. She doesn't realise at first but she is living amongst the 'hidden' races - those of vampires, werewolves, shape shifters and the Fae. Her presence there causes a stir and the story unfolds with her helping to solve a murder.

The story is easy to read and although fantasy from the point of view that Aradia has 'super powers' it does work on the basics of real witchcraft.

A very captivating read with interesting characters, thoroughly enjoyed reading it and had to download the next book straight away!

4.0 out of 5 stars A fun and unique story can't wair for more 21 May 2014

*No Spoilers*

*I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*

This was a fun quick read that grabbed my interest from the first chapter! I love the mystery behind this book. The suspense and amount of action throughout the novel kept me turning pages into the early morning! The characters are relatable and lovable. The idea of The Last Witch was defiantly a new one to me. The spins that the author brought to the book kept it interesting and left me wanting more and more (really want to read book two!). This book uses Salem as it's main setting, with the idea of the last witch I couldn't think of a more appropriate place! But within the small town there is just about every form of paranormal creature you can find! (Much to the surprise of Aradia and the reader). Each character played it's own vital roll for this novel and each blossomed as the novel went on. For the most part I found it to be an extraordinary read! The only reason I gave the book four stars instead of five was that I had trouble with the transitions between time and scenes. It seemed that one moment you engaged in one setting or conversation (some which I thought could use more detail), but the in the next sentence or paragraph suddenly Aradia was somewhere else, either with inter monologue or talking to someone else. It was confusing in places because I thought she was still with one person and after reading a paragraph or two realized it was someone new and it was much later in the day or the next day. So my suggestion would be to separate by a new chapter or at least with the **** type series between paragraphs when time or characters are switched. Oh and the only other thing I wished for was a more descriptive and longer final battle, showcasing more of Aradias abilities. (But that's just personal preference)

Kudos to the shingling author! I can't wait to continue reading and will look out for even more of your works!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous 18 Sept. 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book is just lovely, the characters I thought were well established, a lot of typo's but the books in this series are being edited. I'm definitely going to re-read once the edits are finished and the new version is available to read.

I read another review about this book being like twilight and accusing LA to be a plagerist. It's so not true. This book is so different to twilight I have no idea where the reviewer got this idea from.

This book has a great plot with some amazing characters, and its just a joy to read :)

3.0 out of 5 stars Poor editing on kindle version 5 Feb. 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Did this book even get read by an editor before it went to print? The story is great! I read the book in just two days and then ordered the following three books. However how many ways are there to spell "Derreck"??? well this book uses ALL of them! and all for the same character. Please it may well be aimed at teenagers, it may well be free but someone needs to proof read this version!
