I took this book with me to Cornwall and found it difficult to put down. As usual Anna Maxted's characters are well developed and her plots pull you in. I am looking forward to her next book!

A fabulous read! 13 July 2006

Having avidly read all of her previous books, I have been eagerly awaiting Anna Maxted's new novel and I was not disappointed. A Tale of Two Sisters, as well as having a brilliant title, is hilarious, yet insightful and poignant. I laughed out loud in places and even had a little weep. Ms. Maxted has a wonderful way with her characters - she obviously has a great knack for observation of people's various foibles!! Some of the family situations are so true! I loved the book, found it hard to put down, and actually ended up buying more copies to send to my friends. Great!

loved this latest Maxted novel; she makes you laugh out loud one page and cry the next. fab and witty dialogue, great plot, and all written with her wry and arch humour. PERFECT and intelligent summer reading.
