Alfred Music Publishing is the world's largest educational music publisher. Alfred produces educational reference pop and performance materials for teachers students professionals and hobbyists spanning every musical instrument style and difficulty level. In 1964 The Who became one of the key figures of the British Invasion taking the American music scene by storm. While Roger Daltrey Pete Townsend and Keith Moon took the spotlight with their on stage antics John Entwistle dubbed The Quiet One stood in the shadow poised to become the biggest bass player in rock and roll. Entwistle continued down his own path finding great musical freedom. In 2002 Entwistle couldn t resist the lure of bringing back one of the greatest bands in rock and roll history. Tragically on the eve of the first show John was found deceased. The Ox as Entwistle was known left behind many fans and several unfinished projects. Narrated by Peter Frampton John Entwistle: An Ox s Tale covers the life of John Entwistle from his first public performance at the age of 14 to his feelings about The Who s most recent reunion. This film contains the last footage and interviews ever shot with Entwistle offering the one chance for fans to discover the real life behind the man who far exceeded his greatest aspirations. Special features include Chris Entwistle interview: The Last Time I Saw Dad and John Entwistle home movies. Approx running time 78 mins.

A unique tribute 30 Aug 2006
Format:DVD
This DVD is a truly wonderful tribute to a unique man.As a lifelong Who fan and bassist, this will sit with pride on my shelf. Some great personal footage of John at home with some touching tributes and comments from peers and friends. Pete Townshend is his usual listenable self, some great comments fom him. The Bonus Extra from JEs son Christopher is very moving, lump in the throat time.

This man will never be forgotten.

A Great Tribute DVD. 12 May 2008
By Alan Burridge TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:DVD
Indeed, an excellent tribute DVD to the late great 'The Ox.' And I've been a fan since 1965 and only found out by watching this how and why he won that nickname! Great footage, great interviews and reminiscences from those who were close to him, he is, and probably always will be the UK's greatest ever bassist, bar none. If I could pick faults they would only be why no interviews with Manager, Bill Curbishley or Who singer / band mate, Roger Daltrey? Agreed, JE admits, (after sound engineer, Bob Priden, smiles about John's amps getting to be "like the New York skyline,") that he and Daltrey would fall out on a regular basis about the volume he played at versus Daltrey's vocal abilities trying to contend with it; so maybe the grudge still holds even after death?
But these shortfalls do not mar or take anything away from this excellent tribute DVD, well worth watching and / or buying; top-notch!
